Korea's Air Quality Ranks 173rd out of 180 Countries - Report

미세먼지 시달리는 한국…공기질 180개국 중 173위 Korea's air quality has been fairly poor this year, due to high levels of fine particulate matter in the air, and now a new index shows just where Korea falls in the world rankings. The Environmental Performance Index ranked Korea 173rd out of 180 countries... for poor air quality. The index, by researchers from Yale and Columbia University, surveys nine environmental issues deemed high priority. China ranked 179th, six notches below Korea,... and the report noted that "more than 50 percent of the population in China and Korea are exposed to unsafe levels of fine particulate matter. The Korean government has been making an effort to tackle the issue... by implementing stronger regulations on emitters of particulate matter... and working with China to prevent toxic dust from floating down into the country.
