Erik: What was it about the movie Vi that made you go for it?
Gustaf Skarsgård: It was the best script I have ever read
Gustaf Skarsgård: both when it comes to dialog and the scenes, you rarely read a scen longer then 3-4 pages in a script but we got scens that are 10 pages long with well written dialogue
Gustaf Skarsgård: so I just had to do this movie, I felt it in my whole body
Erik: You got the movie done really quick?
Gustaf Skarsgård: Yes, I had just landed on the airport when I got a text from Mani Maserrat director
Gustaf Skarsgård: he told me he had a script for me, so I read it and asked when do we start, in two weeks was the answer and we have no money, I told him lets do this
Gustaf Skarsgård: so we shoot the movie in 4 weeks, then we hade the editing left without any money
Gustaf Skarsgård: then we tried to raise some money for the film, and then get it distributed
Erik: What has been most fun during the shoot of this movie?
Gustaf Skarsgård: The thing that was most fun was the intimate cooperation with especially Anna also with Mani and all others who were involved, we got so close together, it was very fun
Gustaf Skarsgård: how horrible the story is, it is it's very pleasurable to get involved with this good material even if it is dark and tough
Erik: How was it to play with Anna Åström?
Gustaf Skarsgård: It was amazing, she is extremely talented and extremely responsive so it was felt immediately that we worked very nicely,
Gustaf Skarsgård: which is so important in this kind of film, where everything occurs between us two
Erik: It looked like you had a lot of chemistry, a question I have thought for a long time how much did you walk during filming The Way Back?
Gustaf Skarsgård: There was a lot of walking, maybe not as much as you might think, when we went by car to and from the shooting
Gustaf Skarsgård: but we did a lot of walking anyway
Erik: Do you have any fun memories from the moive?
Gustaf Skarsgård: Aa I have many great memories, we shoot in a cave in bulgaria where we record with wolves, to meet with the wolves for the first time and pat them
Gustaf Skarsgård: There are so many cool experiences, we shoot down in Maroco, it was very cool, we were down there for a month, then you had to experience both sunrise and sunset each day out in the desert
Erik: What do you prefer TV or Movie?
Gustaf Skarsgård: I do not think too much, for me it's not that big a difference, if you do not do crap tv with far too high tempo
Gustaf Skarsgård: I think it's very similar to film, sometimes they can be a bit tight schedule and less money. But then I do not have to wait as much and more things happen
Gustaf Skarsgård: so for me it does not matter, for my work it does not look particularly different if it's film or television, the main thing is that it is good material
Erik: What are you working on right now?
Gustaf Skarsgård: Now I have just finished a miniseries for svt named ones and zeros that we have recorded in Gothenburg, where I play a gangster king
Gustaf Skarsgård: it has been really fun, because it's something completely different to what I've done in the past
Erik: Who whould you like to play you in the movie of your life?
Gustaf Skarsgård: Joaquin Phoenix, he is very good, I think he's a great actor
Gustaf Skarsgård: I meet him at a party last spring in LA, and told him so because I've been asked that question before, so I told him that you will play me
Erik: What was his answer?
Gustaf Skarsgård: he laughed
Erik: What are your planes after the miniseries?
Gustaf Skarsgård: Now I'm off for a month, slimming down for Floki in the TV series Vikings
Erik: Yes it has been received very well
Gustaf Skarsgård: Yes indeed, it has been a super success in the U.S.. So it will be fun, it's a fun role.
Gustaf Skarsgård: so I will spend six months with that and jump around with the ax, it's fun
Erik: The site that I am from tells people what to watch, do you have any favorite movie? It can be new or old?
Gustaf Skarsgård: God, how difficult that is, it is such standrard response that I often give but it's because I find it amazing
Gustaf Skarsgård: it's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind I really think it is a true masterpiece
Gustaf Skarsgård: What more, Exit Through the Gift Shop, I saw fairly recently, which is a documentary about Banksy
Gustaf Skarsgård: it's a guy trying to make a documentary about the artist Banksy eventually it becomes Banksy doing a documentary about that guy
Erik: How is it different to record here in Sweden compared the U.S.?
Gustaf Skarsgård: Not much at all, it's a bit more hierarchical abroad, we are a bit more social democratic
Gustaf Skarsgård: So it's quite easy to become popular there if you come from Sweden and try to be decent to them, it´s very appreciated when they are not used to it
Gustaf Skarsgård: thats one thing, then there are more people
Erik: Did you come up with a lot of your own input when you did the movie Vi?
Gustaf Skarsgård: Yes, we have not changed anything in the script. Many believe we have improvised alot in dialogues but we are following the script to the letter because it is so well written
Gustaf Skarsgård: There had been no need to change that. The solutions with the scenes and so are always a collaboration, Mani I feel was really good with that
Erik: That was all the question I had, so thank you very much for your time
