In this video we are going to show you how to pack more unusual items such as pictures
and mirrors.
Smaller pictures and mirrors than can fit into a storage box should be wrapped in packing
paper and placed in the box standing up right on their edge, not flat down in the box.
To wrap, take each item and wrap it in 3 sheets of packing paper tucking in the corners and
edges.
As you pack your items, use the sides of the box first and then fill in back to back,
and face to face across the box.
Do ensure there is plenty of crushed paper in the box to start with as this protects
the looser items in transit.
Filling in any gaps after with crushed paper.
For bigger pictures and mirrors, carefully remove them from their hanging and place near
to your packing station.
Take a flat unmade storage box. Then with packing tape, seal the bottom with strips
of tape, be generous as this needs to form a secure package.
And finish with a further double seal across the bottom opening to make an instant envelope
pack.
Put several sheets of crushed paper into the envelope pack to create a cushion for your
larger pictures.
Wrap the first picture individually in 2 or 3 sheets of paper, then place the second picture
face to face on the first and wrap the two together to form a pack.
You can then slide your picture or mirror into the cardboard envelope.
Oil paintings can be wrapped in the same way. Never use bubble wrap to wrap an oil painting
as it may stick to the painting and damage it.
Put more crushed paper into the top and sides of the envelope pack, seal the top end securely with packing tape,
then finally, label the box with an indication of its contents.
