When I grow up
I'll build an elevator
Straight up to to the sky.
And I'll tell God he best move over
Give someone else a try.
Cuz I see too many people
Smiling when they really want to cry.
I'll fly west and I'll fly east
And all the way down South
Spreading seeds of happiness
Like raindrops from a cloud.
But I can't watch the faces change
I've got too much to stick around.
My dad says that's quite naive
That is ain't an easy fix.
Someday I will see it all
For what it really is.
But I tell him I like the story
More the way I tell it.
I keep my big plans inside
Till the teacher asks of us
If you could be most anything
What would you be when you grow up?
And I tell her it's all in place
I will fix the human race with love.
She tells me it's nice and sweet
But she thinks I need an A.
Something like a doctor
With a solid daily wage.
But I know that's impossible
I've got way too many people to save.
"Where do you think you're goin'?"
I heard them say to me.
"I thought I could get started,"
I answered happily.
They pulled me back inside
They made me brush my teeth
And before I knew what happened
I was fast asleep.
