$100,000+ R&d And Export Marketing Grants for Recruitment Software

Hi, I'm Neil Bolton. I'm the founder and CEO of Recruitment Systems and I'm a recruiter. However, Recruitment Systems is not a recruitment company. What we do is build software for recruiters to make them more efficient. I'm passionate about recruitment because if a recruiter can match the right person to the right job the result isn't just twenty percent productivity , or thirty percent, it could be a hundred or two hundred percent Right from the start, we have been tapping into what is being offered by the government - both federal and tertiary government in terms of grants and assistance. The research and development grant has been the most crucial part of the growth of our business, simply because it's offered us the ability to get hands-on cash while we've been growing. The R&D grant we've tapped into for about eight years (we've been going ten years ) and without it we would not be in existence. Without that grant we would not be exporting 40% of our gross to the rest of the world. We've received probably over the last five years, about $100,000 in EMDG from Australia, and that has been fabulous for our business. You have to be able to find funding - in Australia, banks won't lend it to you until, of course, you don't need it. Private equity comes with a lot of strings attached - it's very hard to find what we call "smart money" money that, if you're given that, you're also given assistance so finding funding that you can spend with your discretion is critical to a business because no one else will know the business as well as you do. Without funding, which we were suffering for five or six or seven years you spend 30% of your time wondering how you're going to pay the bills. It takes your focus away from doing things productive. In terms of starting your own business, do your business plan and then make sure you understand it's gonna cost twice as much and take twice as long as you planned and then once you've done that you'll probably have to double it again but, if you keep to the vision and the passion that you've got, you cannot help but succeed.
