Clouds build in a bright sky.
The NavAir logo illuminates in the clouds.
The text reads: "NavAir Civilian"
The text and clouds slowly grow then quickly fade to a dark screen
Fade up quickly to an African American female in her forties
wearing business attire, standing in front of a bright background
My name is Bettye Moody I am a supervisory physicist
in my role working at NAVAIR, which means I'm the head
of the propulsion and energetics division.
I have been with NAVAIR for 22 years,
and it's been an eventful 22 years.
When you look at NAVAIR in total, it's a lot.
I mean it's a very diverse,
encompassing type of organization.
I work with everybody from mechanical engineers
to aerospace engineers to physicists, chemists,
chemical engineers, it's amazing how much we bounce ideas off
each other.
It's like, "Hey did you hear about this?"
"Oh, yeah, you're doing this, great!
Can I help?"
It's that type of an environment.
My work is very much a part of the front line
of any service person, because our weapons systems are not just
for the Navy.
We do stuff with the Marines, we're doing stuff for the Army,
we do stuff for the Air Force.
So it's very important.
To be able to have that person be able to come home at the end
of the day to be able to still meet with their families,
to be able to enjoy life.
That's very important,
so yes it's an important part of what we do.
So why is NAVAIR cool?
Well let's think about that.
On a day-to-day basis you could be interacting
with the military, you could be interacting with your peers
and you could be doing fun stuff.
You're coming up with new computer models,
something you may not get to do in industry,
because we actually encourage you to do new technologies.
We actually will help you get a patent for the stuff you do.
You get to do this starting from day one.
You come in fresh out of college,
you have this opportunity to try different things,
to play with it, you just can't get that anywhere else.
It's just NAVAIR just gives you that opportunity,
if you have an idea, let's play with it.
Let's see if it works.
Cut to a logo reading "NavAir Civilian"
The logo floats in a cloudy night sky, as stars twinkle through the clouds
The logo and clouds slowly grow smaller
and then fade out to a dark screen.
