Is it bad when cats sneeze a lot?
It certainly could be bad. There are several different reasons why cats sneeze.
I do not want to take my cat to the vet if it turns out to not be a big deal.
It can be anything from simple allergies to a full blown respiratory infection.
How can I tell the difference?
Does your cat have a runny nose? Or is sneezing the only symptom?
I think she is just sneezing. I haven't had to wipe her nose or anything.
That is a very good sign. When cats get a cold, it can get serious pretty quickly.
Is there anything else I should be on the look out for?
Check her eyes to see if there is drainage coming from them. Too much eye snot is not
a good sign.
Should I check her temperature to see if she has a fever?
Yes that is always a good idea. Also, check to see if she is lethargic or will not eat.
Those are also signs she is not feeling well.
What can I do to get her to eat if she has lost her appetite?
Instead of giving your cat the normal cold, dry cat food, treat her to some warmed up
soft canned food.
Should I take my cat to the vet for sneezing?
If she is showing any other signs for a cold you should definitely take her in. If she
is eating well, has normal temperatures, is playful, and overall acting normal, you should
just keep an eye on her to see if it gets worse.
So there are other reasons besides a cold that she could be sneezing?
Yes, some cats have allergies just like us humans do. If it continues for several days,
have her checked out. Either way, she deserves some relief.
