Today I will be making bread pakoras.
Very good appetizer and it makes great finger food.
The recipe I will be doing will make 12 pieces.
I already have
1 cup of besan (gram flour)
1 tablespoon of rice flour
1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
1 teaspoon of salt
Pinch of hing.
About 1/4 cup of chopped cilantro.
And 2 very finely chopped green chilies.
And 4 slices of white bread.
Bread has to be firm not very soft.
So first I am going to make the batter.
So take 1 cup of besan.
1 tablespoon of rice flour
1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
1 teaspoon of salt
And pinch of hing.
Mix it well.
You need little more than 1/2 cup of water.
And we have to make this batter very smooth.
And add the water slowly.
So you need about 3/4 cup of water.
I think little bit more.
Sometimes it depends the brand of gram flour you are using.
That how much water you will be needing.
It’s time to add the cilantro.
And green chillies.
Again salt and pepper you can adjust to your taste.
My batter is ready.
So I am going to cut the all 4 sides of this bread.
And now I am going to slice them in 3 pieces.
Heat is on for about 6 minutes on medium high.
Let’s check if my oil is ready.
So I will just drop little batter in it.
And see it’s coming up right away.
So oil is done.
So I will take 1 piece a time
and coat with the batter.
I can put about 5 pieces.
So this let it fry for about a minute before you turn.
This should take about 4-5 minutes before pakoras are ready.
They should be golden brown from both sides.
It’s time to turn.
And wait again for about 2 minutes.
These pakoras are really good to serve them with
hari chutney or tamarind chutney or ketchup.
So it has been again about 2 minutes and they look ready.
So pakoras takes about 5 minutes to fry.
I am going to add the another batch.
They look ready.
Nice and brown.
Nice gold color.
Pakoras are looking great, very yummy.
I like to serve them with green cilantro chutney.
You can make these pakoras in advance and just heat in oven
on 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.
So I am ready to try them.
