What scarring is there with a breast enlargement procedure? Well obviously this depends on
the type of implant used, the type of incision, and the location of the incision that you
choose.
Let's run through where you can have the incision. These can be under the armpit, around the
areola, just underneath the brown bit of the ***, in the fold underneath the breast
which is the most common location, through the tummy button which is particularly used
in America, or very, very rarely for some patients having a tummy tuck, the implants
can be inserted via that route.
So overall, the incision for a silicone implant is slightly longer, a bigger implant will
require a slightly longer incision to enable it to be fitted correctly. Normally we would
use an incision of four to four and a half centimeters to insert the vast majority of
implants and the scars tend to fade with time to a silvery line, which hopefully would be
barely noticeable.
