My name is Petty Officer Destiny Brookins. I'm an Aviation Maintenance Technician in
the US Coast Guard. I'm trained as a flight mechanic and flight engineer. As part of the
aircrew, I hoist rescue swimmers and survivors, load and drop supplies and emergency equipment,
and backup the pilots. I'm the technical expert when it comes to troubleshooting and repairing
aircraft. From fuel systems to flight controls, no Coast Guard mission can get off the ground
without me. Whether I'm assigned to fixed wing or rotary wing aircraft, the crew depends
on me to know my particular air frame inside and out. When we're out there saving lives
our safety depends on the aircraft performing at its best and it's my job to make sure it
