Upcycled Planters

(♪ Light Music ♪) Regardless of whether you're growing your herbs for recipes that you like to make or just for decor in your home, they all need a place to live. Whether it's a pot that you have at home and you want to recycle and reuse, or it's a planter set that I've used here that we have at Michaels, I'm going to show you how to make this great little, kind of mosaic garden for it. This set all comes together with all three of the wooden pots and the ledge. So first of all, what we're going to do is we're going to completely paint the pot, and that includes the inside. So you can use whatever color paint that you want to use. I'm going to set it aside and let it dry. And I have one here that you'll see that I've painted inside and I've also painted the rim. So the next thing to do is-- This is chalkboard paint and it's very cool. It comes in different colors, but we're gonna use the black. And now what we're gonna do is we're gonna actually paint the sides all around of the pot with the chalkboard paint. You're going to paint all four sides of your pot. This is our finished product here. So now, here's where the fun begins. We're going to actually mosaic around with these fun little tiny rocks. Now, these are found in the floral department. They're kind of sometimes used as filler but we decided they'd be really fun as a mosaic. So I'm going to take my glue and just go all around the top of this. And I'm going to kind of do it a section at a time, and I'm going to kind of use this as my little bowl right here to catch these. So all I'm going to do now is I'm just going to put the rocks on, and I'm just going to use my finger to kind of fill in those spaces. And here's how it looks, so look how fun this is. It's chalkboard paint, like we said, so now we can just write on here. I'm just going to draw a little heart because I just love this plant. One thing to remember, you want to take your plant out of its little pot to water it, set it aside and water it because your wooden base is not waterproof. So, look how fun that is. Give your plants a new home.
