The first thing were going to do is mount the wiring harness to the van. Well have to make
a few connections. Well run this to the stoplight switch, the red wire, the white will get run
to the battery ground, and the black will be ran to the positive ground. The blue wire
will get run all the way to the back to the seven pole connector. Well do the brake pedal
switch wire first, this gets connected to the cold side of the brake switch. Which means
when you hit the brake, the wire comes on. Next well run our last three wires, which
well have to go out the firewall. Theres a nice handy grommet here, well put a slice
in it, poke our wires through and make our connections to the outside. Be sure to leave
enough on the inside to be able to reach your brake controller. To mount our bracket for
the brake controller we have this nice flat spot right here across this gap.
Well bridge it with the bracket here that will give us room on both sides so we can
install both screws for the brake controller. Well mount our brake controller up, well plug
in our harness to the back of it and then mount it. What we can do next is mount our
circuit breaker, which is 30 amps. Generally anywhere on this firewall will be fine. As
long as its easy to get to and drill, well make our wire connections to that and go to
the positive side of the battery. Well start by taking our ground off the batteries so
we can work on it safely. Well now get our ground wire ready. Well leave that alone and
start working on the 12 volt wire. Well start by cutting a length of wire between the battery
and the circuit breaker. Then well get our ring terminals. Well then install it to the
copper side here, which always goes to the battery. Now well make our actual connection
to the battery. From this auxiliary side well run our extra wire here back to here and make
our junction there. Lets fix our ends. Now tighten them down. Well install a couple zip
ties to keep the wires out of the way, then put our terminal back on the ground. Finally our blue wire will be
ran straight back down and back to the seven pole. Well get this wire ready to go and put
a connector on it. Now we route our wire straight back down and around this steering column
away from it and to the bottom. Weve pulled it down and away from the steering column
and zip tied it to the wire harness going all the way back. We have some pretty nice
tension but not bow tight. You can still flex it around. Go ahead and run this wire all the way back now.
