Xavier Pastor>> This summer, the Spanish Mediterranean coast suffers again an invasion of jellyfish.
Scientists agree that this phenomenon is caused by a number of factors. On one side is the
increase in nutrients in the water by the organic pollutions, which the cost is suffering.
And the increase of temperature of the water due to climate change.
On the other hand, we have a reduction in predators of jellyfish. The big fish are being
reduced by different methods of fishing, and the sea turtles are caught accidentally by
the long lines and illegal driftnet fleets of France and Italy. All these factors together
make an increase in jellyfish.
