"when clever code kills who pays and who does the time"
So I have spoken about this in many videos, it's a topic that I track quite regularly in terms of who has the liability...
So in a driverless car, a level-5 driverless car if it's coming up to a crossroad and it chooses to kill an old-age pensioner
instead of the kids that's crossing the road, who makes that decision who can we sue?
Is it Tesla that we go and sue or is it something that we just allow to happen as part of the human race..?
So I'll be honest with you, we're not going to solve this problem overnight,
we're going to have to wait for some landmark cases before we can really tell exactly how we all feel about this.
But one thing that we have to be aware of, in this new world of robotics and advanced AI,
we are going to have to accept that machines, and machine logic will be
making life-or-death decisions. I think we can all appreciate that in the
arms race for technology, I think it was Elon Musk that said "You can't stop human evolution for the sake of some casualties."
Which is a very brave statement, I think we can all think like that until it is ourselves or a loved one that is is hurt by a machine led decision
so this is going to be one of the more darker sides of the technology evolution,
which I think it definitely is going to crystallize over the next five years...
