Now we are going to take a look at the altered scale which is actually the seventh mode of
the harmonic minor, but we are going to look at it a little bit more simple than that.
So we start here on B flat and it's basically a diminished scale, so half step, whole step,
half step. Then it goes into whole tones. So all whole steps. So we have half step,
whole step, half step, whole, whole, whole. You hear that all the time in funk music.
So you really want to remember that pattern, half step, whole step, half step. It's also
used in minor two fives when you use the half diminished. So in B flat we are going to use
the F half diminished, five, and go to E flat, two five to E flat. So we have F half diminished,
which is the Locrian mode we will go over later, to the B flat altered, then you have the E flat
seven. That's your minor two five half diminished to altered to your one minor. So that?s a
very important scale to get under your fingers and start utilizing especially if you are
going to be playing in signs with minor modes.
