Hey this is Arty and you're tuned into DJ TechTools
FL Studio first, I always worked with this
crazy sequencer. I really like it, it's really simple
and it's really easy to get to
into the sequencer. It has a lot of VSTs and samplers that I like to use.
For right now I really, really like the Alchemy
and the Omnisphere. It's most my most loved VSTs for the moment.
All of the tracks that I've finished so far, like the last 6, 7,8 tracks
from the beginning of this year I've finished with my studio
on the road, always my laptop and my headphones.
You can't bring like 3 or 4 pairs of headphones
with you when you travel because you have a limited amount
of space in your bag.
So I try to use, you know, get used to
HD-25 which are closed headphones
but always when I work at my home I work with open headphones.
I'm really happy with the sound, how my tracks are
sounding right now.
Almost 100% of people are playing with Pioneer 2000s
CDJ-2000s, whatever. I mean, it still has a feeling of
DJing back to the 2000s, back to the 80s/90s,
back when people played with vinyl.
You still have a feeling of feeling the track,
how the track is moving
This is probably the reason why I'm not playing
with Ableton. I'm not playing with Serato, Traktor or whatever
because I'm enjoying what I'm doing with just the
usual DJ decks.
You know, everybody wants to do what they want to do
it's the choice of every person, so you can complain
"Every DJ is pressing play" - of course they're pressing play, but still
you need to follow the crowd, you need to understand what kind of crowd you have
and you need to be professional in this case.
There's a really frequent question - "What kind of sequencer
do you use?" - Like FL Studio, Ableton...
It really doesn't matter, you just need to try.
And time. You need to spend like 2, 3, 4 months to
figure out is it your sequencer? Is it comfortable for you to work with?
Is it easy for you to understand what's happening in the sequencer?
and as soon as you will get it, it will be much easy for you to produce
the whole track with the ideas that you want to be in the track
and the sounds that you want to bring to your track.
