Controversial columnist was not swayed by the now-deleted tweet from the BBC show
KATIE Hopkins has aimed her latest wave of controversial media commentary towards BBC talent contest The Voice.
But in a display of equal sharpness, the national broadcaster has shown they can dish it back just as well.
The tweet in question followed news last year's winner Steve McCrorie had returned to his old job as a firefighter, after his musical ambitions had not quite panned out.
“Last year's winner of The Voice just went back to the day job. Not wishing to put a dampener on proceedings #TheVoice,” the 41 year old wrote.
In a now-deleted tweet, the handlers behind the official social media were not going to take the jibe lying down.
"If we weren’t a polite BBC account we’d tell you to shut your face. #TheVoiceUk,” they said.
Evidently, the reply wasn't enough to quell Katie from biting back.
She next wrote: “Ok, next contestant on #TheVoice. Your challenge is to pretend to cry more than the others.”
"Dial 0 who the hell cares for #TheVoiceUK."
Late last month, Katie was blasted by social media followers for her inflammatory comments about the Brussels terrorist attacks.
"Every one of you who said refugees are welcome, if you said 'let them in'," she said at the time.
"You are responsible for Brussels. And you still can't see."
