We immigrated over here in 1994 and I was only 6 years old
and I did not know any English at all.
I just pushed myself everyday to learn English
and try to achieve what my parents couldnt back in our country.
I have an older brother,
he was born premature and he died a few weeks after because of the health care
it wasnt very accessible to everyone.
My sister was also a premature baby and she was lucky enough to survive
so we were afraid of our health because it wasnt affordable.
And I just want to help people
so they dont have to repeat what my family went through
and also my interest in medicine and
why I want to help people with medicine
really just motivates me everyday to go to school
and actually pursue my dream of becoming a doctor.
I know that UH has a lot of dual programs with the Medical Center
and health care professions and different organizations that are geared
toward helping pre health students at UH.
So going here really gave me a lot of opportunity
than going somewhere else like Rice or St. Thomas.
I dont think I could get the same education
than what I could get here at UH
and I dont know where I would be without going to school here.
So UH has given me some many opportunities in the health care field
that I cant get anywhere else.
Im Bihn Vhu and I am the pride.
