Every year the general population makes new year’s resolutions. But why wait until January
1st? Why would you reflect on what you want just because everyone else is doing it? I
never understood it. I set goals every month. When January 1st roles around for me, it’s
just another month of the year. You should always be evaluating your future.
Most people get swept up around New Years. There’s holidays. Partying. Relaxing. Eating.
Drinking. Time off work. Seeing old familiar faces. It’s a fun time, I love the holidays.
But does it sound like a time for serious goal setting? Most people aren’t working
or working out during this time at all.
I was reading a statistic, 8% of people fail to achieve their New Year’s Resolutions.
And you know why right? Because people don’t exercise the goal setting muscles. You need
to be setting goals on a regular basis, you shouldn’t be jumping on the bandwagon. The
worst part is people set either goals that are too massive or they just make too many
goals. Have you ever heard someone say their goal is to make a million dollars? A million
dollars in a year? I think hard work can achieve a lot, but be realistic.
If you are doing things right, you shouldn’t change anything when new years rolls around.
Pace yourself for long term success. Set small attainable goals to be accomplished one by
one. Put specific numbers and deadlines on these goals.
Success is simple. It’s not easy, no not at all, but it’s simple. The truly successful
people work at their goals all the time. They don’t take vacations from goal setting.
I’m telling you right now, don’t forget your dreams. Because it hurts. It hurts when
you look back and say, things were supposed to be different. I was supposed to have this
done years ago.
Stay motivated and stick to your plan. Whether it’s a lazy summer day, the start of fall,
or the end of the year. Always stay motivated.
