Awesome.
A good experience. Challenging.
The Young Essentials project is designed to get us ready for industry. We worked with Sportsgirl this year, there is also Country Road and Myer.
The YEP program is really hands-on so that connection with industry partner
it's just extremely invaluable. It's been a really
great insight into what is involved in making a product
and we just like basically how to development a range from start to finish, which is
really important for us.
The students look at these briefs and they
work in basically pretend companies that replicate what would happen in industry
and develop these briefs right through to market readiness
so from initial concept to product on that shop floor.
Our industry partner was Country Road. Our brief was to create
an autumn/ winter 2014 mens range. We named it
EROSION. Our main inspiration came from the mining environment of
Australia and then really driving those bright orange and earthy tones
into our range. 'Innovate'. So we've been inspired by a festival. So having a
really free-spirited nature
really like young and girly look with alot of colour and embellishment.
'Dream Girls'. Ok, so the idea came up with is tropical dreaming
so we did bright colorful casual wear that you wear to the beach.
We came up with our concept for my California Dreaming
and my tropical paradise theme and we combine them together to create
Tropical dreaming. "Lima"
This whole idea based around the concept of a bike is how it can be worn on and off.
it which show how versatile it was and how it could
be worn over differen age groups.
We included a hash tag which was '#WhatWheelYouWear?
like the wheel spelt 'W H E E L'
'Potato Gems'. Sportsgirl don't have a sleepwear range at the moment
so we designed a sleep range for them. It was a bohemian styled one
and its really good for
all ages of their target market.
Girlhood was our theme of our main project
which is a range for 12 - 15 year old girls and it was so much fun because it was
young and fresh and
girly and that's what we are, and it's yours and you get to present it to
Sportgirl yeah.
'Sparkly Unicorns' at the begining of the year we were briefed by
Country Road they wanted us to look at their South Yarra
flagship store and redesigned the menswear section and how the store would be laid out
and what our merchandise would look instore. They also wanted us to find the new
face of Country Road.
We wanted to give it a point of different one thing that Country Road
said to us was I guess was to think outside the box a little bit, so incorporated
augmented reality into the windows while by placing a large TV screen
to simulate like the inside of an elevator.
'#1974' Can we start again?? "Laughing". Bec, Elissa and Joanne focused on
the trend book because they were really strong in Photoshop and Illustrator.
It was harder than than we expected
a lot of coffees, a lot of lunch dates sitting in a library all together, It was a
real group effort.
So recently we had a presentation for the young essentials project. It was really great to
get the presentation over and done with but also to
present our year long work to Sportsgirl. It kinda gives you a sense of what
it is going to be like in the industry. I mean we all came from
high school so you know that all about working by yourself and really know it
achieveing your own goal but this is really great
to kind of work together and you know to achieve a common goal.
Actually I think we made friendships that are really gonna last a lifetime.
We can present our ideas to the industry knowing that they are of a high standard.
We love it I was so proud of it and they wouldn't have wanted to turn out any
other way. Go Winners
