this is the iPad pro and I had this since its initial launch it has a bigger
better screen for speakers faster processor better battery and an Apple
pencil hey guys this is Karthik and this is the fourth episode of do you really
need it and in this episode we're gonna dissect the Apple iPad pro in five
different categories and see if you really need one before we get into the
video as usual I'd like to show you guys three tips and tricks that you may not
know are forgotten number one swipe up from the bottom to bring up the dock
that shows the fin apps on the left and the recent apps on the right press and
drag one of the apps to the site to launch it in the split-screen mode drag
it like so to resize number two you can drag and drop things between two apps
number three if you don't find the app you're looking for from the dock
you may have to go to the home screen and you can do that without using the
home button but there's five finger gesture now you can grab the app you
want to add with one finger use another finger to bring the multitasking window
now you can drag the app over to launch the split screen where you left off and
then drop it here like so now let's dissect the iPad pro in five different
categories and see if you really need one
number one the meaning of pro as the name suggests the iPad pro may seem like
it's meant for professionals most of them create visual media which requires
excellent color accuracy but when the iPad pro was first launched it did not
even have the truth on display that automatically changes the color
temperature of the screen based on ambient lighting unlike a Mac or PC that
lets you manage the color profiles tablets like the iPads offer no such
customization some of my graphic designing professional friends used to
be so frustrated with the white bluish tint of the screen so much so that they
use the night shift mode while working on the design the 2017 version of the
iPad pro tries to address this with true tone display and dcpip three white color
gamut that's great but does that address the professional users requirement not
exactly true tone display and better color accuracy are excellent for someone
who consumes content like watching videos and browsing but doesn't address
all the needs of a creative professional who wants to make sure their work comes
across with accurate colors and broader screen types but that out of the way the
remaining four categories assume the word pro means just better specs number
two better battery life you can watch up to 10 hours of video on Wi-Fi with the
new iPad pro sometimes I leave the iPad pro at home and I open it after leaving
it in standby mode for several weeks and it will still have about 70% of battery
left it's a big lifesaver in tight situations given the fact that the iPad
pro will always have some juice left thanks to the more significant form
factor we have a bigger battery that gives you a lot of screen time mainly
when you're on a long flight or even just taking notes all day I'll try to
talk about the 2015 iPad pro and 2017 iPad pro because they are pretty similar
but one area it differs in the CPU. At number three let's talk about
performance the 2017 iPad pro has the A10 fusion chip with six cores and
40% faster than the 2015 version which has the two core A9x chips the single
core performance has an improved a lot but with 4 additional cores you can see
that multi-core performance is way better that should come in handy while
working with multiple apps at the same time which brings up to the next topic
iOS and iPad pro number four is how the latest version of iOS enhances the iPad
pro the latest version of iOS offers a bunch of really cool productivity
enhancements like multitasking and the dock hosts recently used apps in
addition to apps you usually see on the bottom of the home screen now you can
bring the doc from anywhere and you don't have to be on the home screen like
on your iPhone you can drag and drop apps from the dock to the side of the
screen to start using them side by side some apps also offer advanced features
like drag and drop between apps which I find myself using more often at number
five were looking at the form factor the 2015 iPad pro is 1.59 pounds and the
2017 version of the iPad pro is 1.49 pounds but both versions your hand gets
tired of holding it for a while but the broader side bezels make it bearable
well I like how you can charge the Apple pencil by leveraging the same lightning
port on the iPad there is no way to elegantly store the Apple pencil before
shoving it in your backpack but a bow pencil does feel
extraordinarily responsive and the iPad pro does a great job with your palm
rejection at the end of the day can the iPad pro replace your macbook the answer
can be pretty simple it cannot replace mac if it cannot run everything the Mac
runs like Final Cut Pro and some of the tools you use as a creative visual media
professional but for students are someone looking to improve their
productivity there is now a lot of productivity apps tuned for iPad pro but
generally it cannot replace a Mac I use the iPad pro for browsing taking notes
catching up on YouTube watching Netflix and stuff like that but not in the real
sense of the word pro but from a Productivity standpoint I see myself
using the iPad pro more than my macbook to do some research collect notes for my
videos and stuff like that so what's the verdict do you really need
an iPad pro so if you are a creative professional who heavily rely on color
accuracy and you know creating multimedia content I don't think you
really need the iPad pro if you already have a macbook and invested in it but if
you're a student or someone looking to improve your productivity on the go and
if you don't have a macbook i think it's a good option but if you have a macbook
i don't think you really need it i'm really active on the comments section
