Hi everyone! Lately I've been getting a lot of requests about my pompadour
well fake pompadour haircut/style whatever you want to call it
So yeah I did get my haircut again since the last video
or a couple times since that video we did sorry I didn't video tape it this time
but we cut a little bit shorter mohawk section through
it's pretty much the same except we went a little bit shorter in the mohawk section
and tried to blend it in a little bit
it's grown out
this is like four or five weeks it's getting a little bit harder to do now
so hopefully the video still works but what i've been doing is i've been
after I get out of the shower when it's still really wet i'll comb it all forward
the reason i've been doing that is because
the roots over direct and they dry a little bit
like they get to where it's in between wet and dry not really wet
but the ends are used to going forward so they set in a little bit that way
then when you blow dry it back it gives it more volume
it has the direction going like this
so it gets really big so keep that in mind I comb it all forward when its real wet
then let it dry while i'm doing my makeup and getting dressed and everything
then I use a little bit of root pump
I usually start back here and this is the big sexy hair root pump
spray mousse you could use regular mousse too if you don't have
the root pump redken guts is a really good one too
you just spray a little bit I usually do it back here
because up in here I use a lot
of product with other stuff where it's dry and I don't want it to get too sticky
you can just do a little bit
now we are ready to start blow drying hopefully you can still hear my voice. I have a mic on
and i've been a little sick so i'll try to talk loud
I blow dry the sides really really flat
and I mostly finger dry all of this except for maybe right here in
the back of the crown
I use a big round brush because I don't want it to get flat
you want the pompadour to have big volume all the way through even
a little bit
into the back here and then start to smooth in
You'd have to have a pretty
textured hair cut be able to do it like this where it's longer
or you could just use the same technique a little bit through the top if you have
short shaved sides
you could still use some of these tips
and if you have a really really long hair you'll probably have to do a lot
more teasing and back combing than i'm going to be doing
I'm not going to need to really do any of that because of how much texture
we have razor cut and thinning shear and a little
bit shorter in the crown here I mean in the mohawk area
you can see its about that long
in most of it and even in the bangs it's a little bit longer in the front
so it angles down alright so i'm going to turn on the blowdryer and i'm going to start drying
everything on my right side forward and
kinda up in the back area right here and then on the left side the same thing
forward and up like a mohawk i'm kind of doing a like a mohawk
in the back on these two sides
I'm pushing the hair around my face
forward and trying to wrap it tight around my head
this is also called
wrap
like a flat wrap dry you can use a brush if you want
or a comb
brushes are easier actually so I have a paddle brush here
i'm going to help with directing it
I use my fingers a lot just pulling it down
in the direction I want to do it and you don't want a lot of volume right here
on the side you want to keep it flat
just continue to pull down on it
then when you go up to the top you will start pushing up in the mohawk
so there's definitely going to be some kind of part in here
I don't draw the part in because I like it to look more soft
so I let the hair fall down as it pleases
you want to go with the direction of the hair
to the end and that's going to help smooth down the cuticle you wouldn't want to be blowdrying
up this way because that would blow the cuticle open
you want to smooth the cuticle down any time you blowdry
even now i'm pushing the hair up i'm still pushing it in the direction that I want it to go
from the root to the ends
anytime I do the back on this hairstyle i'm using my fingers and pulling it
tight down to my head as I blowdry
pulling it tight down
and leaving this section right here
I'm not pulling that down i'm just doing underneath below the roll of the head
in the nape section that feels pretty dry
okay I can't see what i'm doing alright
you can see it starting to take form this is going down and forward
it's still a little bit wet
so now we're gonna do
we will round brush this little
tiny mohawk section right here don't do the sides because they'll get puffy
I have a large round brush
this is the monster vent brush
I think it's a number three but i've used it so much that i've peeled it off
anyway it's like
it's pretty big i'm not sure what number it is
it's probably number three so i'm going to take that
and do this little section right here
alright
now it's time
to do this front part so what i'm going to do
i'm going to blow dry it up on both sides
and then i'm going to take this round brush and i'll round brush this forward
i'm using my cool shot on this
I don't want to burn it off you have to be careful
and then back
keep doing that mohawk
we have lots of volume on the top
and that's what we want
keep blow drying the mohawk area this way and then this way
and that is creating lots of volume on the sides where you want it
then you can start taking this back now once it's dry and you have lots of volume
you can start pushing it backwards with the blowdryer
i'm going to start to tuck the hair thats dry around the ears
i'm blowdrying the mohawk section up on both sides
this is a really big pompadour. HOLY COW!
my hair is growing out a lot I'm going to have to cut it if I want to keep doing this
you can see there's still some volume in the back
alright
feeling pretty dry
okay so we're done drying it now we just have to add some product
it's too big you want to have it more in mohawk section
so what i'm going to use i'm going to use the
powder play by big Sexy this is one of my favorite things
it's going to make it feel like it's back-combed
but it won't look like it's back-combed it won't have all that rattiness in it
I just sprinkle it around up here
then I run my hands through it
and that just gives it a lot of
stay power it doesn't feel like it's
going to fall down any more you can even do some
in the Mohawk area where it parts and pull it down
so i'm moving down my sides a lot
leaving this middle section up
so there we go and I've done it sometimes where I have it curve
like put a little bit of movement in it like this
you just play with it and fall wherever it wants that day
it's going pretty smooth today
like straight up so i'll just wear it like that and then in the back
you can do a little bit of back-combing because you want this to not be
very flat so the way you do the back-combing is you lift the hair up
and you stick the comb in about half way and push down a little bit
now i've seen people put the comb in and go up and down
that doesn't do anything you need to put it in, pull it out, stick it in
push it down, pull it out that's how you're going to get it
once you have a few sections done i'm going to go back a little more
now this is usually the only place I have to do a little bit because
I want some more body back there
alright so now we are ready for some hairspray once you get it where you want it
i'm using the spray-n-play by Big Sexy Hair
this has a little bit of play area in it so if you spray something
you can run your hands through it and move it a little bit it's not rock hard right away
that's why they call it spray and play right?
I do both sides in the middle I usually
go down the sides and try to smooth these around a little bit more
if they are too puffy you can flat iron then straight
if they are bothering you there we go
spray it play with it and that's it
I hope you guys like my pompadour haircut style kind of a mock pompadour
because i'm not brave enough yet to shave the sides of my head
there it it it's pretty simple
hope you guys liked it we'll see you guys later by!
I forgot to tell you guys I know you're going to ask because you always do
this is the GHD blow dryer I love it
they run about $150 bucks if you have a license
I might have actually gotten it on sale at that price
they're kinda spendy but this is the best blowdryer i've ever owned
awesome GHD is the brand has a really good cool button cool shot
and then
the buttons are all kind of set in
so that you don't hit them with your hand while you're blowdrying your hair
so I really like that
thanks guys! See ya!
