Hello, my name is Dr. Susan Jewell and on behalf of Expert Village today, I'm want to
talk to you today about cholesterol and in particular ways to lower your cholesterol
intake and therefore decrease the risk of getting cardiovascular diseases like stroke
and heart attacks. Now in this clip I want to show you about your diet. It's so important
that you actually increase the intake of fibers, fiber in your diet, because fiber is also
known to absorb the LDL molecules in your body. So less will be absorbed into the body
and deposited into your arteries. Now in the store very readily available in any health
food store or in the groceries you can buy fiber sources. Fibers in food of course fruits
and vegetables but you can also buy very concentrated fiber like for example here what I have is
a bottle of mixed fibers containing cilium which is very common, oats and apples and
what they've done is they've powdered the three ingredients into this very fine powder
like thing, powder ingredient and so that you can actually add it into your soups and
your drinks, fruit juices, or your broths and consomm?' or throw it into your casserole
dishes and things like that to add more fiber in your diet. You can also get this besides
in the loose form you can get it in this gel form. Which is like this for example, in a
gel cap so that you can actually swallow in one go. Now in this particular gel capsules
they've also include herbal remedies like dandelion flower, dandelion root, ginseng
root. So it is actually a good source also, not just for the fiber but getting herbal
remedies also to try to reduce your LDL, your cholesterol level in your body.
