Former Ground Force presenter was flown to Portsmouth for treatment
ALAN Titchmarsh was airlifted to hospital last week.
The Ground Force presenter collapsed after eating fish and chips followed by an easter egg.
He was taken to the St Mary’s hospital in Newport near his Isle of Wight home before being flown to Portsmouth to be treated at the Queen Alexandra Hospital.
His agony was due to gallstones, but he was later given the all clear.
The 66 year old’s agent said: “Alan was in agony after eating fish and chips and an Easter egg.
“He was airlifted to hospital but was quickly told the pain was caused by gallstones.
“He is in tip-top condition and has been out boating since.
“He will be looking at the food he eats.”
Alan has a history of heart disease in his family with his dad dying of the cause aged 66.
The author revealed that was one of the reasons for him quitting his chat show and his presenting duties on BBC’s Chelsea Flower show,
“I’m on statins,” he said at the time. “The men in my family have had a tendency to die from heart disease relatively young.”
He added: “Outliving my dad has made me think about things. I want to get my life more in balance.”
