Hi guys! So today we're here
with a Valentine's video!
I guess I'll let Katie take it from there.
So I came up with this look for you guys is inspired by
this year's Pantone color of the year radiant
orchid. If you want to see how it's done please keep watching.
Okay guys so I'm here with a completely naked face.
Not a stitch of makeup except for my skin care
and whatnot so you can see all the the pimple-y goodness going on.
Typically I start with my eyes first; in case there's any fallout you know
I can wipe it away. So you know if you've done your foundation first you're
wiping away what you've just put on. So
I'm gonna go ahead and zoom in on my eyes
and we'll start with those first. So first step
is to prime. I'm going in with my Urban Decay
Eye Primer Potion in just the original formula.
I've tested all the other ones and this one seems to work the best for me.
I haven't tried the anti-aging one yet but I don't know why mess with the original?
K so now that my eyes are primed I am
going in with my highlight I'm using MAC's Blanc Type
just right under the arch of my brow. And then next I like to go in with
a color that's close to my skin tone just to set the
primer itself and help create just kind of a natural transition color into
whatever eye look I do. I'm going in with
a white base. I'm using on NYX's eye shadow base in white
Just gonna apply that on the lid.
I have got cool trio I picked up. Gonna bbe using that as well
this fuchsia shimmery pigment.
I'll start with the inner part of the eye.
I'm going in with MAC's Jest
on the inner half the of the eye. Some on the
inner tear duct as well.
Gonna dip my shadow brush into two of the colors
socialite and phantasm.
Just gonna dip them both in, back and forth.
Just apply straight to the lid. It's gonna look a little messy a first but
once we blend it out it won't look
quite so crazy.
Right now just kind of laying the color on not being super precise.
Just so that we get
the pigmentation on there.
So once the colors are just kind of on there,
kind of pull that first lid color
into the purple and the purple back just to blend it.
Usually shimmer eye shadows are like the easiest to blend this way 'cause
I don't know, the texture whatever reason but... So to blend out this harshness we got
going on with the purple here...
I'm just gonna go in with MAC's
Wedge and back into that MAC color Jest
just to kind of help transition it a little more
and soften up the color.
Once you've blended and if you've lost some of the color, just got back in and lightly
touch-up and just blend upward. Now this step is optional.
If you're like me you've got kinda
sort of a hooded eye or just kind of a flatter eye area
I usually like to deepen up the crease with like a dark brown or black.
I'm going to take a pencil brush just lightly tap it in there
and then lay the color right in the corner and just blend it in.
This works to add depth and dimension to an otherwise
pretty flat surface. Going in with my MAC pigment 'Fuchsia'
and the same brush I used earlier for
that purple shadows and just lightly *uh*
Just lightly go into that and just gently sweep it
over.
And this'll give it just a hint of
fuchsia shimmer
and just kinda liven that up and also just further blinding all the colors together.
My eye shadow's pretty much done.
Now I'm gonna go in with the eyeliner. I'm just going in with a Maybelline
eye studio.
Maybelline Eye Studio gel pot liner in Blackest Black.
And then an angled liner brush.
So you just wanna start with the inner eye as thin as possible and then taper it out
thicker towards the end. You don't wanna start with like a big thick
line all the way through and then just end up with like
panda eyes.
You can wing it which is what I usually do. I like
winged liner because acts to just lift the
eye area up. So what I do is, take the
I'll line it up with the bottom lash line and just basically
pull it outwards like we're extending that line.
And then from there just connect it inwards.
And just do the other side the same way.
So before I start the rest of the face I'm gonna do
primer just kind of let it set in and then I'll do my eyebrows.
For the cheeks I'm going to be using
Tarte's Amazonian 12-hour
blush. *bleh* Amazonian clay
12-hour blush. And this color is in 'Exposed'.
Just a little down the bridge. And I like to do
the undereye liner er lower line liner
after I've done my concealer 'cause that way it's set
and has a better chance of staying and not running all over the place
so you get raccoon eyes.
I'll do liner and just kinda stop where the lashes
start.
So basically halve almost two-thirds of the eye.
To help set it we're gonna go back in with
our Smashbox trio
and the darker color the Phantasm
just the bottom one right there. And just press that into
the liner. Then if you have great
lashes just go in with mascara but since I have
very pathetic Asian lashes
I'm just gonna do falsies for you guys.
I don't add mascara before adding the falsies because I find that when I do
it actually causes more of my lashes to
come out when I remove the falsies. So yeah, these are just like...they're
really like just fluttery.
And then you'll just get a little bit of glue.
But wait til glue is tacky just place them on your eye. I usually start from the outer corner and
work my way in.
Okay so now once the lashes are on
I'll go in with a light coat of mascara just to blend everything in.
And now for the lips-so for my red lip
I'm gonna go in with NARS Jungle Red lip liner. It's just
a standard red lip liner and then I'll be using YSL's
Rouge Pur Couture in No. 1 which is
Le Rouge and it's a gorgeous red.
It's like my go-to red. Every time I'm wearing it people always ask, "Oh my god
are you wearing?" It's this little baby.
I like to fill my lips in with the lip liner
just to help longevity and the wear of
the lipstick itself. In with the lipstick.
So this is the Valentine's Day look I came up with
for you guys. Sorry about the hair I'm trying to grow out my bangs.
But yeah, like I said it was inspired by this year's
color the year from Pantone
radiant orchid. If you like
this sort of video, if you like makeup tutorials
