You've undoubtedly asked the question, what should we do? Where should we eat?
Don't ever ask those questions again, ever! What my friend means is that we are going
to show you the best places around campus to visit, explore, and have a great time.
Lets to run! I hate running.
The University of Toledo has it's own great outdoor space -- the Centennial Mall -- and
access to Toledo Metro Parks, and starting on campus is the University Parks Trail, a
six-mile stretch of prime exercise path. Great for watching birds from the modestly
placed benches. Get up! Let's go!
Call me maybe! If you're like me and like to be stationary
while exercising the UT Rec Center has plenty of ellipticals, rowing machines and free weights
for your fancy. Also treadmills and a track for normal people.
Are we done here? Yes.
Great! Where are we eating? I'm starving. Just a flapjack away from campus is the Pancake
District with great local places like -- Original Pancake House, Barry's Bagels, Starbucks,
and Uncle John's a personal favorite. With so much variety what's not to like?
Those with an irrational fear of breakfast foods.
You never lost half your day to a cinnabon. We should just eat.
Delicious. Ask for the Rocket Meal! That's not a thing.
Regardless, it was all you can eat pancakes -- and I ate ALL the pancakes.
If you do need to get around off campus TARTA travels to most areas in Toledo for a dollar!
Everybody zooing it! Stop.
The Toledo Zoo has more than 8,000 animals from 730 species -- slightly more than my
personal collection -- and will definitely have you saying "I love my zoo."
You had a goldfish once -- two years ago. Gilbert Goldfish was a saint!
Wildlife not your style? America's Roller Coast -- Cedar Point is 45 minutes away.
You're clear and out of here! But really, Cedar Point has been voted Amusement
Park in the WORLD 14 years and counting -- the Millennium Force, Wicked Twister, Maverick!
I prefer the antique cars. Put-In-Bay is a quick trip on the Jet Express
and features great activities, nightlife and food -- also a great place to get your islander
camping on. There was plenty of room for Jack on that
door. OK Rose. Imagination Station in downtown Toledo
is full of hands-on experiments with over 300 exhibits that are always changing.
All this talk about eating is making me hungry. I wasn't talking about eating.
Exactly! To lunch we go! Well at least you picked my favorite lunch
spot. Grumpy's! Fun Fact: Every three times you
check in here on Foursquare you get a free cookie!
That is actually correct. So now that we are here we could have gone
to Tony Packo's -- a Toledo tradition -- or Five Guys Burgers and Fries -- I think they
serve... burgers and fires -- Chipotle! Jimmy Johns! Taco Bell! The Mall Food Court!
OK buddy, calm down. Don't over think it! Lots of on campus options too. Dining halls
-- SUBWAY, KFC, Pizza Hut, Magic Wok, and Croutons all on campus.
Don't forget Phoenicia and Ferdos! Never! My favorites!
Now that that's settled, it's time too... Shop.
Having the power to teleport is more a curse than a blessing.
The Westfield Franklin Park Mall is your one stop shop for anything and everything -- and
is just 10 minutes away. Besides Borders.
See our friends at Barnes and Noble in the Gateway Project.
Need to set sail to other nearby shopping centers to get your fix?
Levis Commons in Perrysburg has plenty of things to eat, buy, and do.
Just watch out for those pesky BG fans. The Shops at Fallen Timbers in Maumee give
you the option to shop a little bit further away from distractions...
Woah. Look at you throwing shade. Keep in mind UT is located just 45 minutes
away from Ann Arbor filled with lots of other activities.
Like hipsters and Ikea. People go to Ikea?
I lived in one for a weekend. All right, enough about difficult to assemble
Swedish furniture and meatballs -- time for a movie!
How many hours are in this day?! Moviegoers beware -- Toledo is surrounded
by several theaters at Westfield, Levis Commons, and Fallen Timbers.
My favorite part in this movie is when he finds out the tree is actually his father.
Why are we friends? Because who else is going to tell you about
all the area's many mini golf courses or bowling alleys? Or how you can see a show
at Toledo's 100 plus year old Valentine Theatre, or sing along with a great musical
at the Stranahan Theater? OK, you're right, I appreciate you.
And of course there's the Toledo Museum of Art home to UT's Center for Visual Arts
and 45 galleries, 15 classroom studios, 1,700-seat concert hall, 176-seat Little Theater lecture
hall and is constantly being recognized for excellence?
Yes. Most importantly there's a tire swing!
El Camino is muy bueno. What? Is that wrong?
No, you just haven't sang in awhile, I was expecting Macarena. You can also find your
fellow UT-ites hanging out on the patio at El Vaquero on beautiful spring nights, or
enjoying gourmet hamburgers at Burger Bar 419.
Don't forget the secret Italian food of Calvinos in walking distance from campus.
Not a secret. I haven't eaten in like 45 seconds, to the ice creamery!
You can't go to YogurtU without probably seeing someone you know.
Is that your physics professor? Nope.
So once you're finally done eating for the day, Toledo has things for you to do when
the sun passes below the horizon, too. Chasers, Bretz, Jeds, BW3, go watch the Toledo
Mud Hens play at 5/3 field, or the Walleye in the Huntington Center. It's all good
clean fun. If you want it to be!
Well something tells me you don't. So give UT rides a call once you're done. You can
get from point A to B with a preloaded card to take a Black and White cab.
But there is still so much to do! We can watch a football game in the Glass Bowl! Or go to
a basketball or volleyball game here in Savage Arena!
We are watching a game in Savage Arena. Go Rockets!
We hope you enjoy your time on campus and in the Toledo community.
Remember we're trained professionals, don't attempt to do all of the activities in one
day -- you have a lifetime, we only had a few minutes.
