Welcome to This Week @Minnesota.
I'm Courtney Reigh and this week
on campus we're asking students what they're wearing
this spring.
For U of M students it's all about layers
and bright, bold colors.
This is Annie, she's a political science sophomore.
Annie, tell us what you're wearing this spring.
Well Courtney, winter's been really long and dreary this year
and that's why I like to wear these white capris
with the brown shoes and a floral top
that just brings it all together.
This is Jack, he's a finance senior.
Jack, tell me what you're wearing.
Spring's kind of a transitional period.
It could be freezing one day and fifty degrees the next day.
So I like to start it off with shorts after that
with a long-sleeve tee and over that I'm going to throw a jacket
so that I can take it off when I get to class and you know,
not too hot, not too cold.
We want to spruce up your spring wardrobe.
Tell us where Goldy Gopher is hiding in this video
and one lucky winner will get some cool new gopher gear.
More than 120 high school teams from Minnesota
and surrounding states descended upon Williams
and Mariucci Arenas Friday and Saturday
for the annual Minnesota Regional First
Robotics Competition.
The U's College of Science
and Engineering helps sponsor the event
which challenges each team of students and their mentors
to build a robot in six weeks.
The competition uses the excitement of sports
to promote science, technology, engineering and math
in a fun and interactive way.
The University kicked off it's advocacy efforts this week,
debuting supporttheu.umn.edu.
The U of M is encouraging people to contact legislators
and tell them to fund higher education,
also asking why do you support the U?
Abby Rosen says "Funding the U today makes sure
that it will still provide the quality education
that my family has received for generations when my cousins
and my future children attend."
That's This Week @Minnesota.

like to see next week on This Week.
