Copy - Me - A webseries about copying

We copy. Movies, music, tv shows, books, culture... Information and knowledge. We copy because it's natural. We don't pretend it's ours... We don't do it for money. We do it because it's our way of sharing what we love with others. Copying's a practice that people have been doing for hundreds of millions of years. This is how we learn, and this is how we share. And it's how our entire society was assembled! And the Internet has already improved all of our lives! It's made it easier for us to learn, to communicate, to make friendships, to create and remix and to share information and culture. But these days, more often than not, you're being told that you're not allowed to do... anything! We've also made laws and call everything THEFT and PIRACY. And we're even regarded as criminals most of the time. Everything seems to be under lockdown and we can't share with anyone anymore. Copying is not what you think it is. Copy-me will be an animated webseries dedicated to debunking the myths of copying. The series will try to tackle this entangled universe in eight 2D animated episodes. Each will deal with a different argument about copyright, originality, public domain, digital copies, artists and how they can make money, and a lot more... It will assemble the most relevant information and make it short, concise, informative, and most of all, accessible to everyone. And this... has never been done before. Our biggest goal is to raise awareness highlight our concerns regarding the copyright realities of today. We think these topics are extremely relevant, and could use an update. We hope that through educating the audience, our webseries will make a difference. So, we will release each episode about a month apart, which means that the first two episodes will be live even before the crowdfunding has ended! The webseries will be live on Youtube and Vimeo, as well, with a free license to do whatever you want with it. No copyright! So this is why we need you help. All of this take a lot of time and effort. And if you're willing to help, we've prepared some awesome goodies for your kind contributions! We've got posters! And T-shirts! We've got encrypted USB flash drives, the main theme, and even the entire project for you to use however you like! And please remember that whichever perk you end up pledging for you'll be directly supporting and awesome webseries that wouldn't have EVER existed without your help. We think our culture's become much too entangled in laws and lawyers and we've all but lost and forgotten... the very concept of culture! We've all become afraid of sharing. So please help us reframe the way people think about copying, and set knowledge free.
