Barack Obama Stepped Out Of The Shadows And You Will Hate What Happened Next
Democrats finally got their wish.
Barack Obama is stepping out of the shadows in time for the midterm election campaign.
And you will hate what happened next.
The former President addressed big money donors in Beverly Hills to raise money for the Democrat
National Committee.
As usual, Obama talked about how great he was.
Obama told the fat cat crowd that Democrats can’t get complacent waiting around for
a candidate as great as he was to appear on the scene:
“Do not wait for the perfect message, don’t wait to feel a tingle in your spine because
you’re expecting politicians to be so inspiring and poetic and moving that somehow, ‘OK,
I’ll get off my couch after all and go spend the 15-20 minutes it takes for me to vote.’”
“Because that’s part of what happened in the last election.
I heard that too much.”
“I’ll be honest with you, if I have a regret during my presidency, it is that people
were so focused on me and the battles we were having, particularly after we lost the House,
that folks stopped paying attention up and down the ballot,” Obama continued.
Obama then pivoted to the standard Trump bashing fare Democrats have come to love.
The former President ripped Trump for supposedly promoting “fear”:
“Telling people that somebody’s out to get you, or somebody took your job, or somebody
has it out for you, or is going to change you, or your community, or your way of life
— that’s an old story and it has shown itself to be powerful in societies all around
the world.
It is a deliberate, systematic effort to tap into that part of our brain that carries fear
in it.”
Of course what Obama leaves out is that his two Presidential campaigns depended on fear.
In 2008, he ran more negative ads against John McCain than any candidate in history.
And in 2012, his campaign – and its allied Super PACS – accused Mitt Romney of being
a heartless businessman who may have been a felon and negligently killed workers with
cancer by canceling their health care.
Obama has no leg to stand on in this regard.
But he continued his remarks by whining about the fact that Donald Trump set about doing
exactly what he was elected to do – namely undoing the disastrous agenda the 44th President
put in place:
“I am not surprised that instead of replacing what we had done with something better, they
just have done their best to undermine and erode what’s already in place.”
“Of course people are going to be angry about that, because if you had health care
and suddenly somebody who says they’re going to make it better comes in and makes it worse,
you’ll be pissed.
You should go out and vote.”
It was only a matter of time until Obama crawled back into the political spotlight.
The former President has lobbed potshots from the sidelines at President Trump.
But with the midterms rapidly approaching, Obama is the biggest name in Democrat politics,
so he was bound to jump into the fray at some point.
But as the 2010, 2014 and 2016 elections showed, voters didn’t really care who Obama endorsed
or campaigned for.
While voters liked Obama personally, they didn’t care at all for his policies.
And if Obama campaigned for a candidate it was a political kiss of death.
We will keep you up to date on any new developments in the 2018 midterm elections.
