Hello, and welcome to a little mini episode on how to install the VirtualBox guest additions
in Kubuntu. This also applies to Ubuntu, although some of the instructions will be
different. Most notably, how to get to the terminal. In Kubuntu, you go to the K menu, click "Applications", "System",
and find "Terminal". I'm not sure where it is in Ubuntu. I believe it's somewhere under "Accessories".
What you'll need to do is use apt-get to install "dkms", the dynamic kernel module support.
This will take a little bit of time, but I'll give you the commands in the show notes.
Then you'll need to go to the "Devices" menu in Virtualbox and click "Install guest additions".
Open your file manager (in KDE this is Dolphin) and find the virtual CD it has added.
Once DKMS has finished installing, you can press F4 (at least in Dolphin) to get a terminal
and you need to run the "VBoxLinuxAdditions.run" file as root.
This will install the additions and then basically we're done.
At this point, we can close out all the windows and reboot.
And what we'll see is that we get a resolution besides 1024x768.
In fact, this is going to make it difficult for me, because once I've rebooted the screen
is going to be larger than I've allotted for the screen recorder.
So we're only going to be able to see a partial view of the log in. Like that.
But, as you can see, we're done. So I'm going to stop.
