let's follow up about duck dynasty duck dynasty is the reality tape
show on A&E that was the center of controversy when one of their
reality stars Phil Robertson made some anti-gay comments
their ratings for the new season are in and they're down significantly this is a
Dennys
flagship show the flagship reality series a clock 8.5 million viewers which
snapped a streak
ratings records and posted its first season to season drop among adults 18 to
49
the premier average 4.2 million viewers down 33 percent there's no denying these
are huge huge numbers for a cable series
but the season 5 opener was down from the show's season 4 debut
which had about 12 million viewers the two back to back episodes were the first
appearance
love the Robertson family on A&E since the anti-gay
scandal any initially criticized bill Robertson and suspended him then they
brought him back
and entire fifth season had already been filmed at that point it didn't really
change or affect anything I can assure you Louis
that the anti-gay scandal had zero impact
on me watching that program didn't affect me it in any way at all
right you never watched it and you never will write exactly exactly a year you're
100 percent right there
even with 28 you were here 28 percent fewer viewers
the show is hugely hugely profitable and
the last thing we need on television corporate television
is more homophobes hiding behind God's Word
to spread bigotry I don't know if the topic I've
LGBT equality will come up on the program I assume that it will not
but there are enough big its combined with people who didn't follow the
scandal or who separate the bigotry from the TV show still wanna watch that
the show will continue to thrive there's no doubt about it right if this is a
quote reality show I perhaps there are prob
the cameras will be rolling when someone now approaches after Roberts in
on I don't meet you and and confronts him about this but
I of course they can always just edit that out DIGG
as we know those we know a few people who have been on reality shows are on
reality shows
and typically the setup is you know that they are filming
say five days out of the month six days you schedule specific things for those
days that you want to have as part of the program
and you leave all of your other actual reality stuff that you do in your life
for the days that you're not filming and the idea that it is a representation of
true reality is pretty absurd
however it seems that being anti-gay is a significant part
a bill robertson's reality to it it would only be fair to include in the
show we'll see if it makes it in there
