Welcome to the SalveoRx Academy!
Lesson 8.0 will teach you
how to create your electronic prescription.
The first thing you'd have to do is to run your SalveoRx.
You can do this by selecting SalveoRx from the start menu,
or by double-clicking the desktop shortcut.
Shortly after doing that,
the SalveoRx splash page will appear for a few seconds,
after which, the log-in window will appear.
Type in your user name and password, and then log-in.
You can create prescriptions using the Create Prescription module.
You can opt to use templates in creating your prescriptions.
Simply select the "Yes, I wish to use a template" option,
and then click Next.
Otherwise,
select the "No, I want to create a prescription from scratch" option,
and then click Next.
This module includes a Search Patient Feature,
entry point for prescription items,
a set of command options, and a Tips Panel Guide.
The Search Patient Feature lets you set the patient
required for your prescription.
When you enter a value in this field,
SalveoRx provides the list of patients
containing that value.
Please note that the selected patient
will display the patient information -
first name, last name,
birth date, gender, age,
weight and height.
Other information will include the date,
the patient's special conditions,
and the current medications being taken.
Tagged special conditions to the selected patients
will be shown when you place the cursor
on top of the Special Conditions hyperlink.
If you wish to view, add, or remove these conditions,
click the hyperlink to go to the Update Patient module.
Similar to the conditions,
the medications list also appears
upon placing the cursor on top of the Medications hyperlink.
Moreover, you also view, add, or remove these medications
by clicking the hyperlink to go to the Update Patient module.
With the patient set,
you can now add your prescription items for your patient.
Click Brand Name to begin adding a prescription item.
You can begin adding the first prescription item
using a generic drug.
Enter the generic name of the drug you will prescribe.
Notice that SalveoRx displays the list of drugs
as you enter each character.
SalveoRx fills up the rest of the text fields
with information of the selected drug.
For the fields Drug Strength and Drug Form,
you can opt to change it accordingly.
Otherwise, proceed with adding the number of medications
you wish to prescribe for your patient.
You will also need to set instructions
on how to administer the drug.
When you click Directions,
a Drug Intake Directions window will appear.
Enter values for noted fields and specify the units.
You will see a preview of your directions
in the space provided.
After clicking OK,
this will complete the entry for the first prescription item.
You can now add the second prescription item
using a branded drug.
Enter the brand name of the drug you will prescribe.
Similar to generic,
SalveoRx displays the list of drugs
as you enter each character.
SalveoRx fills up the rest of the text fields
with information of the selected drug.
Select a drug strength and drug form for this medication.
Add the Drug Intake Directions
similar to our previous procedure.
After clicking OK, this will complete the entry
for the second prescription item.
For our third prescription item,
you can prescribe a medication using the Formulary option.
The Drug Search module allows you to search for drugs
and view its specific drug information.
You can enter either the generic or brand name
of the drug you will prescribe.
SalveoRx displays the list of drugs
in a table based on your search value.
Click the record to display its details.
The drug details will show all pertinent drug information
from manufacturer up to all available drug forms.
When you're done, click "Prescribe this drug"
to add its information to the third prescription item entry.
After clicking OK, this will complete the entry
for the third prescription item.
You can put additional instructions or remarks
by placing these in the General Remarks.
You can now preview your prescription entries.
The prescription preview displays a sample
of how it would appear in your prescription printout.
As seen here, 3 items are available per prescription.
You also have 4 other options -
Save Prescription, Save as Template,
Cancel, and Close.
For this example, you can proceed
with saving the prescription.
SalveoRx will display the prescription preview
and provide you with several options -
Print Prescription, Cancel Prescription,
Save to File, Print Text, and Close.
The Send to Drug Store and View Compliance
are temporarily unavailable and will be activated
in future versions.
For this example, you can proceed
with printing the prescription.
Select the printer and click Print.
This is how you use the SalveoRx Prescription module.
