Hello it's RugloverMary and todayI am going to show you a Turkish rug
that came in for cleaning and binding
here's the rug this is a turkish rug that was bought at a local auction here in Victoria
bc
we know that
it's Turkish because of the type of
triple side wrap that they use
and it is wool
on a wool foundation
and you can see that ends are
fraying a bit and there's some colour bleed in them
there's also some old
moth damage and some
wear and
fading in the rug
so the lady who owns this rug
she actually wants us to trim it to new size
because it is too big
for the room that she's using it in
so what we're going to do, you can see that has the
white border around the middle
Gul section, these are the Guls
here and here
so we're doing is we're trimming it back
so there no white showing on this end
and on the sides we're taking it into
here at the beginning of
the second
border
we're going to trim it down
from a seven
by eleven to a six
like just under nine feet
so that is what it will look like on
the new size
which can be done to most rugs
if you find a rug at auction that
might have some
damage on the corners or the end
we can either do a hand repair to replace
the fringes
or re-weave
a moth eaten area
or we can downsize it
to the right size
so if you have a rug
which you are interested in keeping but it's just not perfect
you can bring it into Luv-A-Rug
in victoria bc and we can
go over the options for you
this has been RugloverMary, thank you
