Hi, I'm Josie from Hamilton, and I have a question for Neeson and Associates.
Why should I choose Neeson for captioning services?
KIM NEESON: First of all Neeson and Associates has set the Gold Standard for the provision of captioning, or CART services as they are also known in Canada.
We were first out to the block in 1996 with providing on-site, live captioning.
It's not just about the words, on the screen, although that is really important.
It's about understanding the needs of the hearing loss community.
So it may be that you also need to have larger fonts, or you may need the colour of the screen changed.
We also provide nuances of what's happening in the room.
So if a loud clap of thunder goes off and everybody start laughing you'll be part of that conversation too.
But you know, of course it's so important to understand what's being put up on the screen.
That's where we come in because our captioners are experienced, they're trained.
And we understand that the spoken word needs to be translated in a way that's meaningful.
So that means you're not going to get big gaps in what's being said because the captioner isn't able to keep up.
Or that a lot of shorthand appears, or funny English because it's not contextually correct.
Our captioners go in prepared ready for any turn of event.
And we provide the highest quality, most readable captioning in the market.
And while I'm on the topic of accuracy, bear in mind that there are a lot of people out
there who are providing captioning remotely, and while we do that as well the quality is not the same.
It's important to be on site where you can be.
And it's important to be able to hear everything that's being said because if we cant' hear it we can't take it down.
At Neeson our reputation speaks for itself. So while we're often imitated, we're never duplicated.
That was a great question.
