An interview with Kosuke Itomi, Art Director of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War. He previously worked on the GUI for Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies. The game is set during the war 15 years before Ace Combat 5. We wanted to show you what the war was like in this new game. The previous war was about a conflict between two big countries. But this time the combat is more between the enemy and you, without as much regard to the setting. The enemy is just a warplane so it is more like a 1v1 match than group vs. group. In AC5, the planes were sleek and designed with a modern sensibility but because we were going into the past we went for an older, rougher style to the planes. The game is not set in the modern world we set it like the idyllic and rural side of Western Europe back a few decades. We want you to feel fear and surprise that comes when a war happens in daily life as aircraft fly over the area. The game uses all the good points from the previous games and also includes new stuff to keep it interesting. Please expect a more exciting dogfight!
