How do I know my pregnancy is going okay?
It is hard to know if a pregnancy is going well, because you won’t know if the baby
has a genetic defect or there is a hormonal imbalance slowing growing until you feel bad.
You’re giving me nightmares.
You should go to the hospital if you have ringing in your ears and a headache, because
that can be a symptom of rising blood pressure that correlates to preeclampsia.
I have heard of it, but I do not know what it is.
That’s when the body basically has the blood vessels narrow and blood pressure go up. It
can lead to miscarriage with horrific bleeding they can not stop, stroke, heart attacks and
aneurisms.
What’s the cure?
Childbirth. They can not cure it except by ending the pregnancy, but fortunately it usually
only happens in the second or third trimester.
Let’s set that aside. How else can I know it is going OK?
You’ll know something is wrong if you can’t keep food down. Whether due to a stomach bug
-
The baby is a stomach bug, of sorts. Even made me throw up for a few weeks.
If you start getting chronically tired and weak from dehydration, you need to see the
doctor. Severe dehydration can even trigger labor.
That would be a nightmare.
This is a good excuse to make someone else clean the litter box so you do not get toxoplasmosis.
That’s a parasite that infects cats that can infect pregnant women and cause miscarriage.
Let’s take a different tack. If I feel good, does that mean everything is okay?
For the most part, but you still need to see the doctor for your monthly appointments.
What can I do to improve the odds?
Take your prenatal vitamins to avoid weakness from anemia and odds of birth defects. Do
not drink alcohol or take drugs to prevent birth defects.
So the champagne has to wait until after this baby has been born.
