2NE1 "I Love You"

This week’s Music Monday will have you lounging on couches like Victorian women, with 2NE1’s “I Love You” Let’s begin by saying how much we like this song It’s a great song It's not my favourite 2NE1’s song ever, because when I heard the bombastic glory of “I Am The Best” that was a game changer right there probably the best song YG ever made At least favourite song by 2NE1 was Ugly, because that song was kind of bit meh ... This song, though, lands somewhere in between a 2NE1 ballad and bombast track It has the vibe of a serious ballad but it also has a rockingly awesome beat with great synths It almost the best of both sides of 2NE1 merged into one track And it would dig in to your brain and make sing it all day ALL FREAKING DAY Ok there’s something really freaky about the chorus for us Really freaky I don't know what kind of subliminal hypnotoad hynospudgy message is going on in this song but for whatever reason, when one of us sing this song even if we are not singing it out loud the other would start singing it AT EXACT SAME TIME OUT LOUD WITHOUT HAVING EVER HEARD THE PERSON SINGING IT I don't know if this ever happened to you yet but it's a really freaky experience I said yah yah yah yah yah Damn it woman, get out of my head I was singing that song first Are you taking a poop? No Close the door And the part that we catch ourselves singing all the time is not the main chorus, oh no, but the part with CL’s snack food addiction SARANG NORAE MARTINA WE HAVE BULL OH JERKY EVERY DAY! I SAID NUM NUM NUM NUM Now, first off CL, I can assure you Martina has never tried this bull jerky you speak of I don’t even know what this bull jerky is I’m used to beef jerky, which is made from regular cows but I guess if you’re 2NE1 you’re probably ballin Hanging out with WILL.I.AM and all And so you can afford that fancy pants bull jerky that regular folks such as myself can’t afford Whatever you do Don’t lose your roots, 2NE1 REMEMBER WHERE YOU CAME FROM!!! THE HOOD in Korea wherever that is It's no where AND WHO DECIDED TO RUIN THAT SEXY CAT SUIT WITH A TURTLE NECK ON THE TOP GORT DAMN WHAT’S IT WITH KPOP AND TURTLE NECKS Against them!! Grumpy Side note: did anyone else notice that the dubbing was horribly off in the music video? The same thing happened in Ugly, so either YG’s doing it on purpose, or someone needs to get fired Maybe you guys didn't notice this at all but it's just because we edit videos everyday and we're particular about this But some of this kinda kinda obvious Like, their mouths weren’t even saying the matching word. I mean when your lips don't move in sync with the audio, and you feel like you’re going crazy when you watch it Just check the 1:13 second mark when Minzi is under the umbrella, or the 1:35 second mark with Park Bom’s lips moving a lot more than the words would suggest Or 2:44 when CL is at the lighthouse and her lips are WAYYYYY OFF What is she even saying? What song is she singing? IT DRIVES US MENTAL! We would never make that kind of mistake Apart from the bad audio synchronization, we don’t have any complaints with this video The setting of the video has a really cool vibe that we can’t even place It’s almost like it belongs in an anime It’s got a really cool retro London meets China feel to it And the addition of the sadly slow falling fluffy snow also give a really mystic feel to it It really almost looked like a a studio Ghibli movie come to life We’re happy that the video also directly reflects the lyrics The song is about 2NE1 being in love with someone and they’re really upset because that person isn’t returning their phone calls and they are getting really jealous and upset that somebody else might be in the picture And so, you see the girls looking lonely in different places hanging up the unanswered phone sadly in the phone booth, or stretched across the bed lying sadly like Disney princess waiting their phone to ring I mean, that makes sense right? I just don't really get why you are on a train Maybe you are sending out like batsignals to your boyfriend? UNLESS!!! Yes Of course it’s so obvious! CL and Park Bom are in love with alaskan fishermen who have gone off to sea and yet to return a phone calls. The crabs are getting away oh..jesus not now,CL I'm busy OH NO !!! The Kraken is back Sailmen!! Sail hard OOH But wait! Would that mean...that with the travelling on the trains, that they might be in love with wizards!!? Not now, Dara I'm fighting the dark lord Nah, probably just used for cool settings Nothing says cool like a light house [the dance] There wasn’t a prominent dance for this video except for CL’s like whoa what she doing there with the big heels girl Which I shan’t be imitating, but near the end of the music video they break out into totally badass kung fu style animal poses What? you haven't notice that? [The English] As for the English of the song, I’m gonna give this a 4 out of 5. That’s right. A less than perfect rating for English for a YG song Now, it’s not that there’s mispronunciation or anything It’s all really great I’m just really annoyed by the beginning of the song When you feel like there’s no way out... Love is the only way. Is this poetry or something? Or is this a profound understanding of love? I don’t get it. I’ve been in love with my wife for a long time now And this doesn’t make sense to me whatsoever Love is the only way...what? Love is the only way out? I’m not sure how that would work: Darn!!
