Uhh...this is another child by the name of Isatu Mansuray.
She's one of our beneficiaries, in the bridge school at Kissy community.
Unfortunately, her mother is not around but, her mother's sister is with us.
So, we are coming to interview them, to get information with regards to the flooding.
Interviewer: Hello Ma'am, what is your name?
[Woman speaking: Aminata Conteh.]
Interviewer: What is your relationship to this child?
[Woman speaking: This is my sister's child.]
Interviewer: We see that your place is flooded,
there is water that has settled inside your home.
This flooding,
what time did it occur yesterday?
[Woman speaking: It started around 3 am, in the middle of the night.]
Interviewer: So when it happened at 3 am, in the middle of the night,
did anything get damaged in your home?
[Woman speaking: Well, we were not able to secure anything
because the time when the water came inside our house, we were unable to do anything.
Interviewer: But, how did you all manage to escape because yesterday? Plenty of people lost their lives,
but you all, thanks and praises to God, you all survived.
[Woman speaking: Yesterday, as we heard the water, everyone was yelling "Water is coming, water is coming!" We just gather all of the kids and carried them out.]
Interviewer: But now I see, this child is holding her shoulder. I see that she is
trembling. How is her overall health?
[Woman speaking: All night, she has been trembling because there is no where for her to sleep.
Because we had no other place to go, we had to sleep in the flooded house.]
Interviewer: This child, Isatu Manuray, does she still have her school uniform and books?
[Woman speaking: Nothing is here anymore, everything has been destroyed.]
Interviewer: Really? Everything was destroyed?
[Woman speaking: I am a mother of young children and all my possessions are gone!]
Interviewer: Wow!
Interviewer: Wow!
Interviewer: This one, we all just have to bare.
What God has marked, let it not be asunder. Let us tell God, "thank you for life".
Interviewer: So, as the mother was telling me ...also, their properties were gone yesterday.
Even Isatu Mansuray, her uniform, her shoes, her books, all of them are gone. And, presently,
the health condition of Isatu Mansuray is not okay.
As you can see her standing here, folding her hands on her shoulder, she is shivering.
I think she is suffering from a cold.
Their place is where they have been managing to sleep (here) because they do not have any alternative.
The place, the place...is very vulnerable.
It is completely muddy.
So that is the information she has given to me.
