revealed. This illustrates that ways in which our society, economy, cultures, and personal
preferences have an impact on the colors that permeate the market in years to come. Similarly,
the application of materials evolves over time, where ways of using a given material
might have once been unheard of, yet through experimentation, an a-ha moment is had, opening
our eyes to new possibilities. The foundations of design, rooted in shape, are part of the
initial design plans. Sketches and brainstorming to create something new originates with shape
and form, moving to color and materials. By bringing the individual elements of design
together, a complete picture is created. The inspiration leading to the selection of colors,
materials, and shape may be based on numerous sources, however, a creative framework that
affords the flow of new ideas works its way into an intuitive process. Through an evaluation
of these facets, realizations occurs, giving us clues into the future.
