I bought a new Dillon 1050 recently I tore it all down because I am having some
issues with the primer system I did a tune up on the primer system
and hopefully this video can help you out if you're having the same issue
after a couple of frustrating reloading sessions
I realize the shuttle is not moving back and forth smoothly in this channel to
pick up primers
it's either not coming all the way forward or it is not going all the way back
I checked all the springs I've tested everything I've taken it apart several
times I put it back together
I finally took the the machine all part after doing another reloading session and
starting to look at this area
really closely one thing I noticed is right in here
there are some tool marks that were left by the machine you can see that
chatter mark right there
what's happening when I put the shuttle in there and move it back and forth with my fingers
it doesn't move very smoothly and it's catching on
all of this right in here so we're going to fix this issue
to fix this issue what we're going to do is take a diamond file
this is by DMT. We will put this in here nice and flat
and we are going to work this area back and forth
until we smooth down the burrs in the machined area
when we get all done, this can take several minutes, we should have
a nice smooth flow up the primer carriage in this 1050
a quick test here see how we're doing that is much smoother
I'm putting barely any effort to move this shuttle back
forth with this tool
it still feel little bit drag right here
so we are going to do just a little bit more cleanup on us
okay after another few minutes of work this piece
moves very easily back and forth it takes hardly any effort at all to move it
I smoothed up
most of these tool marks that were in here and cleaned up the high spots
there's no chattering whatsoever when I rub that stylus back and forth there
we are going to put the machine back together
and I will bet you everything is going to work a whole lot smoother
