If you have a hormone-sensitive breast cancer, then you certainly still can include
soy as part of a healthy, mainly plant-based diet. Again,
the recommendation is that you would have soy in moderate amounts,
and generally what we suggest
is you limit it to a serving a day, as is typically found in asian
diets, and if you happen to be on a
tamoxifen or some other anti-estrogen medication, then
again you can still include soy, as part of a
balanced diet. Natural soy foods like tofu or miso, or edamame
is certainly fine to include, and as I say, you
can have a serving a day, it would be okay. If you are ER-negative
then the soy issue really is not one of concern, and as with
any woman who enjoys soy foods, you
can include that as part of a diet, and there doesn't reallly seem to be any issues, in terms of
the limits.
