ARABELA
The fairy-tale kingdom is nearing its end, and king Hyacinth is in dispair.
The Majer family is having a difficult time since the father has been turned into a dog.
The evil Rumburak, who is to blame for all this upheaval,
comes to the kingís palace as beautiful Arabela's suitor.
When the princess rejects him, he loses his patience and kidnaps her.
He doesnít even suspect what kind of adversary the girl will prove to be.
Cunning and spirited Arabela tricks Rumburak and his servants,
and escapes to her beloved Peter, far away in the human world,
where she turns his father, Mr. Majer, back into a man.
VI Peter Disappears
Some say that the dream dreamt on your first night will come true.
Thatís good, I dreamt of the two of us.
It was very...very... strong...
- Love like in fairy tales? - No, much bigger.
Don't think that love is perfect in the fairy tale world.
A prince kills the dragon, gets the princess, but no one asks her if she loves him.
I had to run away from there, otherwise I would have lost you.
Arabela.
I love you so much.
Peter...Excuse me. Come downstairs, your professor's going to speak on TV.
- I got frightened. - Are you still afraid of that Rumburak?
I was just writing to you. Where have you been?
Arabela said that if I brought her this necklace, sheíd become my wife.
- Excuse me, I'll go get her. - Wait! Something happened.
- Arabela, where are you? - Here, in the wardrobe.
She's in the wardrobe.
What are you doing there?
- What? - It's all her fault.
She took the suitcase, the old coat, and all the rest, and stuck me in here.
- Where is she? - She escaped.
- Where? - This will answer you.
Hurry up.
I want to clear the incident involving children's programming...
This is the man who was chasing me when I was a fly.
Chasing you? No one chased me when I was a dog.
Payda shared everything with me.
And once, in the garden, he even offered me a dead mole.
...with diletant and pompous theories.
There are people who look for a scandal where there isn't one...
- But that was him - Majer! - Majer, who?
Blekota, get ready for a broadcast.
I'll get Arabela back today!
But how? You donít have a travel mantle.
You'll bring me one. There are two in Vigoís wardrobe.
And hurry up. Don't linger around the palace.
No use dwelling on it all the time, Your Highness.
We have to find Arabela, or I will die.
We'll find her. I'm sure she didnít just disappear.
- What do you want? - Just something small.
Mr Vigo only needs to turns his ring.
Some nonsense again?
I'd like each of us to have his own TV.
If you haven't noticed, Your Highness, Xeniaís in love with these things.
Daddy...
I did notice.
Personally, I can't stand television...
But... maybe...just this once... as a wedding gift.
- Mr Vigo, if you please... - As you wish.
- This one will be yours, and this one-mine. - But how does this... with this...
Like this, dummy.
...that the scrambled fairy tales were the work of some dark forces.
- It is completely absurd... - Move aside, Xenia.
...It is absurd to believe that suddenly there may appear on the screen...
Arabela, your escape was in vain! I know where to find you! I'm coming for you!
I'll be there faster than you think. And youíll never get away again!
You understand? Never!
- But that was Rumburak! - Yes.
- What are we going to do? - What if he comes...?
Don't be afraid, he can't come over here without a magic mantle.
There are three total. Mr Vigo has two, Rumburak has one, but I took it.
It's all clear: Rumburak kidnapped Arabela, but she escaped.
- And I know where. - To Peter.
In the human world, Your Highness.
We have to follow her. To protect her from Rumburak.
- Where's your travel mantle? - Locked in my room, Your Highness.
Well, let's go...
- And my wedding? - Weíll be back before nightfall.
After you, Your Highness.
Hmmm, that's how you lock it...
- It's broken. - I can see that.
One mantle is missing. Someone's been here.
We won't look for it now. We'll make do with one.
- Hurry up. - Yes, Your Highness.
I wonder who stole it.
- You couldn't do any better? - I'm happy to have caught it all.
He was on the screen for just a moment.
- Listen, that guy came here once. - Oh yeah?
Well, yes. He was asking about everything: lights, cameras.
He introduced himself as...as...
- Ceasar. - Yes, Caesar.
Aha...call the police, news stations, and so on...
- We've arrived. - We were here last time, weren't we?
- I know this voice. - Well, let's take a look.
How do you dare asking such a thing of me?
I get around better in this world, Your Highness.
We were in trouble once already.
I'm a king and I have my dignity. I'm not going to play a fool for anybody.
Welcome, Mr Caesar. I didn't know you were our guest again.
- This is for you. I need your help. - I'm listening.
I think there are two maniacs next door, in 112. One of them is wearing a kingís crown.
- Maybe I should call a doctor? - Thatís what I was going to suggest.
Blekota!
That's not a driver but a devil.
Is he going to greet me?
Sir, this is His Majesty. Bow now! Everyone.
Come on, boys.
This way, gentlemen, this way. It's them.
We're not blind.
- Well, are you going to come willingly? - I knew this would happen.
- Step aside, mister. - Come on.
How dare you?! Mr Vigo!
Should I use the ring?
That won't do, I want some satisfaction! I am the head of a world-known kingdom!
Payda, what are you digging in there?! Stop it now!
Hi, mom. Is Arabela still home? - And where else?
Sheíll be staying with us for while.
- Didn't I tell you? Marjenka wants to see her. - Where is she?
She and Peter went to tease Prof. Grah with the flying suitcase.
- A flying suitcase? - Yep.
You see, it's just some Mr Caesar. Nothing mysterious about it.
Civilization and fairy-tales have nothing in common.
You said it very well on TV, sir. How did it go?
"Give me a mystery and science will explain it." - That's right.
Can you see this suitcase? It keeps us and the car up in the air.
Majer, what's the meaning of this?
Your TV lecture was wonderful.
No mysteries, everything can be explained, right?
Let's move on.
Majer, you are breaking the laws of nature! It's wrong! ...Water...
Now we'll look around, think it over, and tonight youíll kidnap her.
Why me?
Because she knows me well, and she saw you only once.
- But you'll recognize her, right? - Aha.
There she goes now.
We're lucky. Follow them.
Prof. Grah is probably not going to sleep all night.
Why's he tailing us?
- Peter! That's Rumburak. - Really?
- I recognized him. Blekota, too. - So, what do we do?
- I'm afraid. - Donít be. Look how weíll trick them.
Hold on tight.
Donít let them out of your sight.
Up.
Watch out!
Look!
Looks like the one the police are looking for.
- We'll see. - Here they come.
The ring. Quick, do it now!
Please step aside.
What is it again?
I insist on having an audience with the head of state.
Oh, yes? And I thought you wanted something.
Treating a monarch this way...
Take a pill, it'll calm you down. Believe me, I'm a doctor.
- Don't pay attention to him, he's crazy. - And who are you?
- A wizard. - Aha.
You were wrong not to let me use the ring, Your Highness.
- I could've done something. - Patients are not allowed to have rings here.
- When you get better they'll give it back. - We aren't crazy.
We are on an important mission here. We came to save the princess, my daughter.
Great. If you take your pills, they'll let you go, and you can save your princess.
You think so?
- What is this supposed to be? - I've got the same.
Look. Bars.
- Where are we? - In the prison hospital.
Well, you are awake now. Some gentlemen are waiting outside.
We better go. Turn us into sparrows and let's fly away.
My ring is inside.
- What are you doing? - Are you crazy?
Please, stay in bed and answer my questions.
Do you recognize yourself?
I arrest you in the name of the law.
No one will find it here. I'll cover it with a blanket.
Wait. Hide Rumburakís ring, as well.
Let me see. I haven't taken a good look at it.
Unbelievable. Such a trinket and grants your every wish.
Turn it and thatís it. Fantastic.
- Well, let's go. - Why hurry? Weíre alone at last.
You're right, dear. At last a moment alone.
Look, theyíll be kissing now.
Peter!!
Have you seen the kids?
No.
Come on.
- No one saw us? - I don't think so. - Let's open it.
Here it is.
- What are you going to wish for? - Well...a real safari.
With a lot of lions, giraffes. All kinds of wild animals.
Are you nuts? Theyíll eat us.
But it doesn't work. I said 'safari' but nothing happened.
Give it to me. Peter said you had to turn it.
- And what will you wish for? - To be grown-up.
- To have eyelashes like this and make-up... - Sounds like you.
- Wow... - Oh come on!
Look at my nails!
- Dinner, Marjenka! - Coming, mom!
Works fine. Now you. What do you wish for? Come on.
I want you to be you again.
Donít do stuff like this again.
- What a cool thing. - Fantastic.
- Marjenka, I'm calling you! - I'm coming.
If you say a word, they'll take it away and we'll be punished.
- Promise not to tell anyone. - Cross my heart and hope to die.
- I forgot to buy wine. - Youíre kidding!
- What are we celebrating? - The fact that I'm not a dachshund anymore.
Isn't that a reason to celebrate? Sit down, Honza.
But this is champaigne.
- Where did it come from? - Well, Arabelaís here.
I can't get used to these wonders yet.
- Are you going to stay here with us? - Yes.
Let's drink to that.
- Me too. - You get lemonade.
- And you call this justice? - Stop it.
- To Arabela, so that she's happy with us. - I will be, youíll see.
Long live Arabela.
- Where did you get it from? - Ms. Arabela, was it you?
Not this time. But we agreed no more formalities?
Well itís a day of wonders, so you can toast with us.
- I hope you will be telling stories again soon. - Thank you, Iíd love to.
Excuse me. I'm going to bed early tonight. Have to make up for the lost sleep.
- I'll get it. - No, sit down, you alcoholic.
We can go on with the bedtime stories, now that Caesar has been arrested.
- If Majer is better... - I'll find out right now.
Karel, is that you? Gros from the TV.
We're just deciding whether to give you fairy-tales again.
How are you feeling? Yes? What?
OK, I'll tomorrow and tell how it turned out.
Can you imagine, Gros called. Asked me if I wanted to do the tales again.
- He'll call again tomorrow. - See? Now you can sleep in peace.
- Kids, why don't you take a walk? - Let's go to that...hockey game?
Hockey's in winter. Let's go to the amusement park.
You'll go to sleep. Dad will tuck you in.
I'd love to be hear that discussion at the studio.
Damned boiler. What a waste! Lets just throw it away.
You really want to hear that discussion? - Of course.
- You want it badly? - Sure. But why?
What are you doing?
Maybe Majer...
- Majer? - What's this about? Why are you in my bathroom?
Karel, please. What are you doing here?
Be careful! You'll get everything wet.
- I don't understand. Where's my bathroom? - Why are you doing this to me? I've been on your side...
- How can I help it? - Well, you should.
We were just toasting me not being a dog. I went to brush my teeth... I'm going crazy!
- Who are you calling? - The asylum.
Good evening.
The corner bed.
- Mr Majer. I'm here because of you. - Oh please.
- Excuse me... But you are the one...? - Very interesting meeting.
- Will you allow me to introduce you? - Please.
I know you already.
Your Highness, This is Mr Majer.
Is it possible? The king himself!
- So you are Arabelaís father, aren't you? - You got us into a lot of trouble.
- You see our situation? - I'm sorry. It's so sad...
that I must meet representatives of the fairy-tale kingdom in an asylum.
- Why are you staring at us, doctor? - Oh, nothing.
Tomorrow I'm going to confess to the professor that I am crazy.
- I'm worried for Arabela. Thatís why I'm here. - Calm down, Your Highness.
Rumburak is in jail, so she's perfectly safe.
Mystery man from TV in jail. He hid at the Park Hotel and paid in gold.
Evening edition! Mystery man from TV in jail...
- He stayed in apt. 111. - You want to look?
- At the hotel? - Yes.
But how?
- Can I try? - Yes, here.
See how easy it is?
Look. He must have stolen this mantle from Mr Vigo.
That's bad.
Not that bad... Weíre alone.
- Peter. - Arabela.
One moment. My hair's all messed up.
I want to look nice for you.
And what should I do so that you like me?
Interesting. Look at me.
- Don't button it! - Why?
Peter! What came over you?! This shouldnít have happened!
Now I will never see you again.
