speaker and involvement pictures Student #21: Find your passion. Uh, determine
what it is that you want to do and how you want to make an impact here at Illinois State.
And, find a way to do it whatever way you can.
Student #3: You never know what’s gonna work out and don’t get discouraged if you
don’t find one right away. Take some time and patience, but eventually you will find
where you belong on campus. Student #22: Think of one thing you know you
like and one thing you have never even heard of. Because again the whole point of college
is to explore and understand yourself better. And if you haven’t tried it, you don’t
know if you like it or don’t like it. So I would really recommend at least having that
one that you really do like just so that you know you will like something. But also, challenging
yourself to go out and go beyond what you’re expecting yourself be in.
Student #23: Get involved early! I know it’s hard when you are coming and you want to establish
like the class room experience and everything like that’ but I would suggest that you
trying to keep a balance, get involved as early as you can. Because I wish that I would
have been more involved my freshman and sophomore year, rather than my junior year and senior
year when I’m leaving Student #8: Get involved with things that
interest you because of an interest coming from a passion. It could be something that
will carry you for the rest of your life. It could definitely spark an interest in you
that you never thought you had before. Student #1: Take advantage of the Student
Involvement Center and the Leadership and Service Office. They’re great resources.
If you are looking for something to do, you can go there and get tons of information on
all the different registered student organizations that we have.
Student #14: If there isn’t an organization or club on campus that interests you already,
than you have the option to start your own. There is no limit to what kind of things you
can get involved to when even if it’s not often you can start your own group. All you
need is a few people with the same interests and they’ll let you start it

Voice #1: Really important to get involved because you get a different aspect of the
University other than being a student and you meet new people and you go cool places
and see different things. Voice #2: I learned amazing public speaking
skills that have helped me in terms of interviews but also confidence.
Voice #3: It improves your résumé a lot. It gives you a lot of really good experience
Voice #4: Being involved, you’ll learn better time management. How to do your homework more
efficiently. Voice #5: Worked on my leadership skills and
developing who I am. Um, just really discovering my strengths, my weaknesses and building on
those things. Voice #6: How to schedule, how to plan, and
manage your time. I think it’s about being involved really helps you focus on what you
have to do. Voice #7: Go to a potential employer and when
you are sitting down and they ask that question, “Tell me about yourself?” You just look
back on all the accomplishment that you have had in your college career and be able to
say I worked on this committee, I developed my problem solving skills in this way working
with these people and what not. So, definitely a good foundation for the future.
Voice #8: I’ve learned a lot more about myself and what I’m capable of, what I still
need to work on and what my passions are in life. That way I can spend the rest of my
life doing what I love. 03:39 flashing pictures of students involved
