Today I'm gonna show you how to create a Wordle Word Cloud. So, to begin you need to have
already written whatever it is you are going to create your word cloud out of. So, a word
cloud is basically a visual representation of writing. And, you'll see that whatever
words you use the most throughout your writing will become larger in your word clouds. So,
to begin I'm gonna go to Word where I have all my writing. And, this is an article by
Alan Roper about how students develop online skills, and I'm gonna press Ctrl+a on my keyboard
to select all of the text and then Ctrl+c to copy it. Then, I'm gonna go back to Wordle
and in the center here where it says Create your own, I'm gonna click on Create. And,
then all I have to do is press Ctrl+v on my keyboard and paste all of the text. And, them
I press go. Now, the more text that you have the more intricate your word cloud is going
to become. So, the minimum for your writing assignment is 400 words, but if you write
more your cloud could become fuller. And, you'll see that I had a very large article
here so,my cloud has a lot of words in it. And, then you'll see that it develops the
cloud for me. Now, if you don't like the way that it looks, you can click at the bottom
of the screen here where it says randomize and it's going to recreate your cloud for
you, using different colors and fonts. Or, you can do some manual manipulation from the
tool bar up here. For instance, change the color, or you could change the font, or you
could change the layout so, if you wanted them to go half of them horizontal, half of
them vertical, you could do that. So, once you have your word cloud the way that you
like it you're gonna use your snipping tool again, I'm gonna use Jing as my snipping tool.
And then once I have my cross-hairs I can go ahead and just select around my word cloud.
And, then again I can save that image into where ever I want. And, then once I have my
word cloud saved I can go back over to Blackboard and now where it's tutorial 5 to create my
blog entry I can actually add my word cloud image by clicking on the icon right here and
then finding where I saved my image. So, I saved mine in my pictures folder. And, then
just click submit, and submit one more time. Now, you'll see that my image is kind of large
and if you want it to be that big you can leave it that size, or if you want to resize
it you can click on the resizing handles right here and change the size of that image. And,
then you could just type in any text you want below that if you want to add any, anything
about it, but you aren't required to. Don't forget, however, to submit - or to - excuse
me, attach your actual writing here. So, again you would browse to where ever your Word document
is saved and attach it before you click on post entry. Oops, I forgot to add a title.
And, now you'll see my word cloud shows up in my blog entry.
