Mark Hamill and James Gunn engaged in a little Twitter back and forth on Sunday night.
The topic of conversation? A possible role for the Luke Skywalker actor
in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. And it's all thanks to one superfan.
It started when a fan on Twitter asked Gunn to put the Star Wars icon in the third
installment of the Marvel franchise. He tweeted, "@JamesGunn, could you do me a
huge favour and find a role for @HamillHimself in Guardians 3?
The awesomeness of it might end me, but I’m willing to risk it. Thanks."
Gunn actually responded to the tweet, saying he was open to the idea!
He wrote, "I think @HamillHimself lives around the corner from me in Malibu
so he can just come over and we can talk about it over a cup of coffee."
And not long after, Hamill chimed in. The verdict? He was totally down to hang out!
He tweeted, "I would be happy to do so, both as a good neighbor
& an unemployed actor. All the best, mh."
Gunn then said, "Haha let's do it," to which the Star Wars actor responded,
"DM me for my contact info if you're serious. (& a good neighbor)"
And finally, Hamill followed Gunn so the director could DM him.
Needless to say, fans of both Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy began to lose
their minds, including Josh Gad. And the superfan who started it all also chimed back in,
writing, "You've made a lot of fans very happy (even if it just ends in a cup of coffee)."
So, would you want to see Mark Hamill take on a role in Guardians 3?
