Today I learned an interesting theory
about why The Book of Mormon was written how it was
I read an article on BookOfMormonCentral.org from april 14
It talks about "The Words of Mormon"
And why it's written at the end of the Small Plates
Because it(The Words of Mormon) acts a lot like an introduction
Mormon writes it in and says
"And the things which are upon these plates..."
"...Pleasing me, because of the Prophecies of the coming of Christ..."
"...For they are choice unto me; and I know they will be choice unto my brethere."
Mormon basically writes an introduction
he says the small plates are good, I Love them,
You'll love them too Read them.
But it's at the end of the small plates
And that doesn't make any sense in our modern culture
Because we always put introductions at the beginning.
William J. Hamblin came up with an awesome theory
of why the book of mormon has it's introduction in the middle
In Greek and other Near Eastern cultures
There is something called a subscriptio
A subscriptio is when information about the literary piece is put at the end of the work
You write the Author, the Title, and maybe a small blurb about the text at the very end of the book.
And this makes a lot of sense because
We (I and other Mormons) believe the Nephites came from Jerusalem way before Christ was born.
