Welcome back to Schannel
To celebrate my birthday coming in a few weeks
My uncle working at Apple has sent me an iPhone 8 as a gift *shh*
Now we will take a quick look at this iPhone 8
Unfortunately, due to my gaming and music uses, it has run out of battery
I can't turn it on to show you the interface and performance
So I can only bring you the look of this phone
Play with the prototype quickly before returning!
Sorry guys, actually this is a prototype I borrowed from my boss
But I think it will be the final design of the iPhone 8
Maybe you have known before, because there are tons of leak about the iPhone 8
This is the base concept for accesories makers to make related products for the iPhone 8
Here we have the iPhone 8 prototype
On the front, we have a 5.8 inch OLED screen
There's a huge change compared to the familiar home button on the previous iPhones
This time, Apple will ditch the home button entirely to maximize the screen
It's a pity that Apple is unable to intergrate the fingerprint sensor onto the screen
The fingerprint sensor may lie in the power button on the right side, or if you hate it
The iPhone 8 will feature a camera and an infrared sensor for the facial recognition technology
This tech is not new, but very few brands can implement it
I'm glad to see the iPhone 8 coming with facial recognition
It will make the experience much simplier and more exciting
Apple has optimized the screen to occupy nearly entire the front
The corners of the screen is rounded. The notch up top is for placing the camera and call speaker
There has been suspicions about whether Apple excludes the Touch ID on the iPhone 8 or not
If they choose not, where would it be?
There are some rumors that they will place it in the apple logo
But the prototype here has a very large power button that fits a knuckle of mine
So I think the fingerprint scanner will live here
The frame has a glossy finish, similar to one on the Jet Black iPhone 7
On the back, there's a loud speaker, a microphone, a Lightning port and the lack of the headphone jack
The back is made out of glass instead of metal
And the most prominent change is the vertical dual camera module
The flash sits between the two cameras, which is really unique to me
Many people think it's inelegant, so did I
But I have changed my mind after seeing it in person
It looks just ordinary. The only drawback here is the protrusion
You should buy a case to protect it from scratching
This thing fits in my hand properly
It is indentical to the Jet Black iPhone 7, but a smaller size helps holding a comfortable experience
Now I will compare the iPhone 8 with the iPhone 7 Plus
to see what remains and what's changed in terms of design
First of all, it's the screen
The iPhone 7 Plus has a large screen but it's unoptimized for the overall size
The iPhone 8 takes full advantage of the front estate for the screen
But the question is, will this notch impact the video watching experience?
How does the screen around this notch display content?
I think Apple won't let it display the content and try to shift it to the center
I watched a video review of the Essential Phone, which also has a cut out on the screen like the iPhone 8
Let's take a look
That's my opinion. Let's move on to the next difference
It's about the camera setup
On the iPhone 7 Plus, it's horizontal, while the iPhone 8 places it vertically
Some might argue, but as I said, it actually looks interesting
I don't feel annoyed about it
My common dislike for both of these is their protrusions
And the last difference lies in the antenna bands
The plastic antenna bands on the back of the iPhone 7 Plus has gone away
Maybe Apple realized how ugly they were on the previous iPhones
It might be unclear on the Matte Black version
But in the brighter versions, things get really horrible
The plastic bands only appear on two sides of the phone, creating a more seamless look
Though the design language remains unchanged
But the iPhone 8 seems to be more complete, seamless and elegant
