Lasse Lindholm: A Dream Come True The story behind the new album
Well, we started making the cd in the autumn 2013,
And it was finished in the month of March, 2014.
When did you play music for the first time?
First time I played music must have been on Mølleskolen, in Ry.
We had music lessons, just like when you have sports or sloyd lessons.
We had music lessons.
We played music, and sometimes there would be some events,
Where I played in a jazz orchestra, I played the drums.
There was another boy, who also played the drums.
Sometimes he played the jazz concerts, and sometimes I played the jazz concerts.
How did you join Jacob Jensen Band?
It happened in Silkeborg, when I lived in Lysbro,
I lived on a dormitory on Lysbro School,
I happened to be at our club, of which I was a member,
And a band called Øl, Pølser & Popcorn came to play.
I had never heard about them before, so I joined the party in the evening.
I thought they were good.
Then Brian, my current boss, he spoke to one of my pedagogs,
Who told him: "Well, Lasse plays the drums, and he'd like to join a band someday."
And then, later in the evening, after the band was done playing,
I came up on the stage to jam with Danny, who still plays the guitar in the band.
Brian said, that I might fit ind, because he thought I played good.
I started in the band as a percussion player, since the band already had a drummer.
So in the beginning I played the congas, clave sticks, and such things.
And then later I took over the drum duties from the previous drummer
Because he had other stuff to do.
So, that was the start. That was how I joined the band, yes.
Which musicians play on the new cd?
Jacob Jensen Band is the backing band on my new cd.
Winnie is singing too, and Sonni, who is in the band.
Sonni is our bass player. He also sings backing on some songs.
He also play the drums on a few tracks. So does Jacob, our acoustic guitar player.
I play the drums on most of the songs and I sing all of them.
And there's a guitar player from Germany named Felix.
He plays on the Neil Young tune "Hey Hey, My My". He plays the first guitar solo.
And he sings the second verse on "No Woman No Cry", by Bob Marley on the record.
Which songs have been hard to learn?
"Take it Easy" by The Eagles was a little hard.
And "Six Days on the Road" was hard It has more words than most of the other songs.
How did you choose which songs to include?
Well, the thought about which songs to include came from
When we're out plaing gigs, I play the drums and sing
All these songs, give or take.
There might be one or two, where I don't play the drums
But I sing all of them when we're out playing.
On the record, there's a few songs I only sing, where some of the other
Members of the band play the drums.
Therefore we got the idea to choose some of those songs,
And of course some of the good ones. I have many more songs I sing in the band,
But we took 14 of the best tracks and included those on the record.
Some good ones, yes.
So that's how we did it, that way.
Has there been made any music videos?
Yes, we made a music video for "Sleeping My Day Away", track 14.
And that one has been great fun to make.
We were taking a walk out to a bench, where we were filming.
While we only had to lip sync.
And then we went some more places where we should lip sync.
And then it will be cut and mixed together so it becomes a video of "Sleeping My Day Away".
We also went to the train tracks, where there was some graffiti.
We had to stand sideways to the camera and look a little tough, since it's a rock video.
And it was a very funny thing to make.
And we might make another one or two.
How does it feel, having made your own cd?
Well, I'm happy! It was what I dreamed about.
It's also why the cd is called "A Dream Come True".
Making a solo record like this one has been fun to try.
Also because so many people say I sing good, really good.
So I hope they will buy my record ... and enjoy it!
Yes.
