the virginia csn is now about to consider a bill that that will require
your
uh... student fees and universities to find that student groups
they're allowed to discriminate against other
earnhardt members of society and members of the university in general beverage in
your house of delegates already voted to pass this bill in eighty to nineteen
eighty one six one seven out like i said earlier waiting invite religious or
political university student groups discriminate as they please
and still require the camp is to provide them funding in access to campus
facilities
specifically that would be bad for algae bt students
operative because they're particularly mumbled technical terrible twos
termination it because it
most universities have non-discrimination policies but under
this lobby universities protections for *** orientation
are not enforceable that's because of stateline virginia so this means
alginate seasons will be
pretty good or evil even a k_k_k_ chapter could hypothetically for music
industry sources
and openly discriminate against non-white non-christian students on
campus yes so i i think that they'll still be seeing those important when
here but obviously there's a potential racial and in this political
discrimination like this is explicitly language is sort of weird
that uh... in pursuit of the religious or political mission of our organization
all the person's committed to that mission which some sort of
religious synonym terminology anyway
should conduct activities like involving outdoor positions doctrines like
disputes between members and stuff like that and so it seems the ridiculous that
we joke about the k_k_k_ using this but that's the political organization like
their political goals right and we've seen before
maybe not specifically the k_k_k_ but
white groups have then working to form groups on cuban and trying to get
student fees so
maybe they can take a
seemed a little at me and extract
the fact is wasting groups and later to general are so incredibly prevalent
even know most people aren't aware of that is the kind of and applying under
the radar but
so the fact that coordination with what you use
supply legislation to promote their con is not completely is not so i'm kind of
as you might think ah... and so they're they're couple things on the cover one
obviously uh... though and the reason that people i think have a problem with
this is that we we talk with us in the republic of herschel speaker coming to
campus
or something like that is that
if this organization start-up business only christians can be part of this and
we're gonna get school funding going trips and everything
everybody at the university is paying for that with their student fees but
will not have access to those resources uh... all-white organization or an all
black or hispanic organization for instance
will be able to band members that are not going on the part of that i know
that like usually job but that people say
was always a complex in union yet it universally allows non-blacks tends to
be part of it as well and can benefit from their at their like events that
they can not only are you gonna discarded skirts they discriminate
against a certain types of scenes from joining that they can also
or camp is relatives in activities
and things like that but not actively discriminate and take messages against
different types of minorities like racial minorities algae bt numbers
things like that so a definition of joining but it's also an issue about the
tapes above then they can hold that will actively promote even more
discrimination
that's it
uh... all the votes against it as you probably can guess were from democrats
but i love that
but there there are major problems of universities in this country and uh...
virginia's tackling
first on component of the problems we have that
their enshrined in discrimination
in the long that that's what they want and the thing is
i know that we were so we're talking about the k_k_k_ racial stuff i know
this is almost entirely is about religion is about christian organization
to be able to discriminate on christians they define what that
you can be involved in christian group off-campus
let whatever we talk about creationism in the classroom in elementary schools
in prayer and spin class is the fact that it's likely forget that they're
allowed to be religious when they're not on campus when they're not you know in
first period french or whatever
why two things that i want to say about this in mind that is obviously there are
a very good reasons that university have non-discrimination policies in their
university constitutions
and that is to make all of their students feel welcome on-campus now the
reason the that conservatives who want to argue against that is because they
say that
non-discrimination policies allow for quote
hostility colours meaning that students with opposing views from that group will
infiltrates and assume power in the organization not only has this it never
actually happen but there's no i think there's not even any evidence to suggest
about plausible the second i want to point out is thinking
lenient indeed find higher education and ranging in particular
or a local last year and a bit decrease their funding for higher education by
fifteen percent so here is that there in your state government is going to the
site in decreased funding
fourth universities
it no longer get to say
you know what those universities are required and not required to do this to
be completely up to the university
and if it's the is going to do you find that it's
it's higher education facilities there is a capsule in the mail relations it is
safe
and what that university that has to be a sorry affectionate *** something
that you said their points they made about the hostile takeovers which is
sort of ridiculous
with the idea that is that they don't want people
uh... coming in with different he is and sort of the the mission of the
organization of the time
the composition of the organization so we should be over time
which is what you imagine organizations are supposed to do
like if people come in and they have the points that the members like they will
get into leadership positions and stuff like that
uh... i think that that does happen
i don't think about that i think that's not hostile takeover things like if
that's what's driving this very actually too
did what sort of dictatorial powers to the print leadership
to force out any members who might become popular and change the
organization overtime well i think what they're doing is that there
should be at let's say they plan to do this in religious terms let's say you
have
i'm not like a christian group and then at some sort of like double worshiping
work they don't want the members haven't done a working group to comment and
state
all while were going to miss this ethically tried and i like this group
and take it down i just found that some of the members of the groups that have
different
opinions and econ popular but that much of this does happen all the time and do
you think that's a good thing but they're saying hello that this other
group is going to come in andaman nightly take down the group out of me
out of hand anger which like i said that doesn't happen some for at least very
rarely happens there's no proof that it's been happening there's no evidence
that it might happen but i do agree with you
it's just the general population start to have differing opinions i think we
see in politics and government
then whatever because it might be supporting new should be in power yeah i
think i think there are less actually worried about statements coming in
taking over organization
and more like liberal christians coming in and taking over there was a has made
things a couple their they are not not in a different view on the different but
then the people pushing for the summer camp
and it's ridiculous i don't know that it would be necessary i don't know what the
state constitutions one another the unconstitutional it'll be interesting to
see if this does pass the good thing
