The Suri Tribe eats grilled corn as their staple food.
They have the most unique decorations on their lips.
Women from this tribe pierce and expand their lips
and insert a large disc made of mud.
Nakonggo When I have a guest, I put in the disc. I take it off when I'm alone.
The women are brewing alcohol.
It is similar to Korean rice wine.
People drink with their cheeks touching each other's cheeks.
Naballa We take out the disc when eating.
This disc represents the beauty of our tribe's ladies.
Men of the tribe live near the cows.
They take turns going home, about once every 10 days.
It's time for the shepherds to eat.
Instead of a table, a cow is pulled in front of them.
Instead of holding spoons, they bring a bow and arrow.
Their main dish is cow blood.
They drink it three times a day.
Nangkusata Apart from old women, everyone in our tribe drinks cow blood.
That is part of our tribe's culture.
After drinking the blood, the men head for a valley.
They are making "dokai" which is made of tree bark mixed with water.
They drink this before a special event or when they are sick.
This drink is believed to release impurities and clean the body and soul.

I emptied my stomach by taking dokai. I'm now ready for the Donga Festival.
Donga is the biggest festival for the Suri Tribe. It is a ritual of stick fighting.
